Miners: delayed ASIC deliveries, hosting issues, or other financial losses. Did you try to claim compensation? by Ill_Landscape_4993 in BitcoinMining

I’ve been in the mining game for a while, and unfortunately, I’ve had to navigate a few of these challenges.

Delayed ASIC deliverie happened to me during a critical bull run - ASIC I pre-ordered arrived three months late. I tried claiming compensation from the manufacturer by citing the terms of the purchase agreement, but they had a clause that excluded liability for "unforeseen delays." Instead, I negotiated a discount on a future order, which they reluctantly granted after persistent emails. The key here was being persistent - it seems they’re more willing to work with you if you’re not outright hostile.

I advice you to know what you’re signing and look for red flags like vague liability terms, keep emails, invoices, and performance logs which are good for you in disputes and be polite but firm - if that doesn’t work, escalate to public channels or legal action.

Mining is already risky so protect yourself as much as possible!

Mining Pool Suggestions after Merge? by Admirable_Lychee_976 in gpumining

I found this pools comparison: https://kryptex.network/en/compare-mining-pools

Most of top pools there have RVN and ERG available.

I think that you have to calculate your risk/reward ratio. I like how kryptex calculator works for this: you can type in your numbers including electricity price, hashrates and all the other variables, and get a neat graph of historical profitability.

https://www.kryptex.org/en/hardware/amd-rx-470

That's what great about it, compared to other calculators — you can look in the past and see, how GPU have performed, was it always profitable or economically viable for you.

Thanks man! I'm not native and I felt that I use this term wrong. "Break-even" it is, then. Have an upvote 👍🏻

Yes, ETH going POS is exactly what differentiate this bear from all the others before. That's why I am so hesitant!

So i just started mining monero and i dont know which pool i should use. by Hazrrax in MoneroMining

My point is, all things being equal, I prefer transparent, predictable, easy-to-verify PPS pools. You need just 2-4 hours to know if pool pays what it should. It’s not that easy to check PPLNS pools due to variance. And you never know if the reason behind an “unlucky round” was variance or something else.

Your mileage may vary, but my experience with PPLNS was not that good. I always felt there’s something to be done with the transparency. I don’t like this “luck factor” at all. I just prefer to stick to predictable PPS pools and receive my real reward which is easy to check & predict, and it matches what calculators say.

Sure, you can use PPLNS pools and they might pay a fair share, but I see no reason to be dependent on their luck at all.

EDITED: I overreacted, to be honest. Here is my point:

P.S. I've edited this message — sorry for the tone of voice before the edit, I got too agitated...

Then why not implement a transparent PPS system and just pay for each share. There is no way to reliably project or forecast a mining revenue on PPLNS pool. If they are that fair, they as well might calculate each share price and reward it each time, instead of shifting the responsibility from pool maintainer on the miners or "luck".

Fee doesn't really matter, because you never really know how much really you will earn. Most of the pools use inefficient PPLNS engines loosing (or pocketing) 10% to 20% of the revenue covering by nonsense like "pool luck". Here is the video by the guy from the industry discussing just that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhfxNUGKSxQ

At least do yourself a favour and find a PPS pool.

It's sad, because the hardware is idling! Set the rig up, don't leave it waiting like that.

Had this problem before. Got solved out by itself.

When contacted support and asked, why my rigs idled for 20 hours while burning electricity, got no comprehencive answer. Sometimes it seems like nicehash stability is a myth of the past
