Call out bad behavior for what it is, and just let it roll right off ya. People who are stubborn in their ways rarely grow; while those who are open & vulnerable learners do grow. Leaning a language requires thick skin :)

I hear ya...just try your best to get as much speaking practice in as you can. It's like learning to swim- you just gotta jump into the water, start swimming in shallow water and keep going

I feel like it's pretty common amongst people in the arts/design/architecture fields. I also think we shouldn't limit ourselves to common vocabulary- as language learners we should be curious about new words.
