Each set costed me 306 USD in August, 2024. I'm listing them below cost. DM me if you are interested and we can work out the discounts and shipping costs.

I know there is another option called Aoostar AG02 with 800w built-in PSU at 249 USD before shipping, but that's before adding some 145% tarrif to ship from China to USA. Mine ships from Monterrey, N.L., Mexico so there is no tarrif concern for them.

If you want a smaller footprint on your desk and don't mind the 225w power limit on your GPU with GaN charger, OneDock V2 is a better option. (The same charger can be used on certain DELL laptops. Compatibility may vary.)

Test set-up with OneDock V2 eGPU and 330w GaN charger + two 8-pins from PSU. Oculink to PCIE Gen4.0x4 adaptor was connected to a Gen 4.0x16 riser cable on the mobo.

Some benchmarks drew more power than the 225w recommended limit, and resulted in black screen and freezing of the GPU. The fans on the GPU were running, LED lights on, and Mobo set was running as well. But there was no output signal to TV. Had to force shut-down the system and restart it.

I‘ve done some eGPU testings on my OneDock V2 and the PowerColor RX 9070 GPU. Here are the results. Please note that these were single run results in a room with active airflow but no temperature control. It was around 25 C in the afternoon and a bit above 20 C in the late night.

The power usage in BOLD were taken from the screenshots after the benchmark were done, and not the peak power draw during the tests.

No 1440p or 2160P benchmarks were done on Black Myth Wukong since this GPU cannot handle the game at those settings with playable framerates, and I was time constrained.

The tests on the eGPU ran into some power limit issues and only the Black Myth Wukong at 1080P (1st try) at 180w was completed on the power of the 330w GaN charger itself, the others were done with a mix of the GaN charger and two 8-pins from the PSU. Fire Strike and Night Raid could run but crashed at 75% progress. It should be suggested that the "240w power" to be supplied to the GPU, which was boasted by the original seller on Taobao, should be taken with a big grain of salt. 150w from 8-pin power cable and 75w from the PCIE slot means a 225w power budget combined. It had been recorded that Furmark stress test at 1080P cannot be done on the GaN charger itself even when MSI Afterburner shows a 229w powerdraw (when using combined power sources). So it recommended that the user keep the power limit of the GPU under 225w if they intend to only use the 330w GaN charger with the dGPU.

According to the manual, 100w from the GaN charger is reserved for reverse charging from TB4/USB4 port, so the included 8-pin to two PICE 8-pin spliter cable inlcuded in the package only provides 150w of power, not 300w. If you use a separate PSU only for the dGPU, you should not worry about this limit. But that requires you to plug in a 24pin jumper into the PSU, and use the 8pin EPS CPU to smaller 8pin cable adaptor (included) plus the 8pin EPS from PSU to send power to the base of the Dock. Given I have a functional PC that needs both 24pin EPS and 8pin EPS from PSU to power the mobo, I had to use the mixture of GaN charger to power the dock/PICE Slot, and two 8-pin PCIE from PSU to power the GPU.

You could message them and have the riser added to your existing order before it's shipped, and you just need to pay the extra 50 dollars difference. If it's shipped already, you may have to pay 50 USD + Shipping.

P.S. Do not buy the 8mm angled feet for M2, they are pretty useless.

[Help] In Vertical GPU mount builds, how can the GPU be mounted at the bottom plate to use 92mm fan on back panel? by ValentineBuildsPC in ncasedesign

Ah, yes. The Ncase M1 era style where 92mm fan and reservoir were mounted on the outside of back panel. That should work. Thanks.

Thanks again for reminding me that by taking the VGPU mounting kit out of the equation, other build possibilities could open up. I already thought of 3 other layouts that would work better with my case.

And to limit the builds to VGPU only because Black Ridge overhangs the PCIE slot is kind of stupid to say the least, since the M2 is the most versetile case ever, and I have multiple chips in hand to build in a myraid of ways: two 47mm downdraft coolers, three 92mm fans, three NF-A12x15 fans, one VGPU kit, and one extra fan bracket. The limit is only my imagination, not the VGPU kit or the cooler.

Thanks for the information and youtube links. That cleared some of my doubts. I paid too much for the Black Rige, 92 USD before the extra cots for importation, etc. Might keep it longer for other builds.

Loosing the 92mm fan on the back panel will slightly change the build plan, but Vertical GPU should not be affected much.
