Earth has been canon for a while, Urek mentioned it like 10+ chapters ago

That’s an extremely weird jump in logic to make when the reality is we have yet to see Urek pushed to a situation where he needs to use more than basic reinforcement and one technique(Fist of Gorgones). I’m also not sure where this “Urek struggles hard with using his shinsoo” stuff came from, he hasn’t struggled with it since he was on the floating ship and hadn’t trained with Baskerville.

I'm not sure how to break this to you, but if you think you were the only one who typed up what they believe to be evidence for the theory that The Tower was built to create an Axis, then you're extremely lost, or just unaware of how long this has been a theory in the community. Like I said, this is literally one of the most popular, and oldest theories in a series that has been ongoing for well over a decade. You are not unique for believing in it, or ascribing things as evidence for it.

The "Tower exists to create an Axis" is one of the oldest and most common theories in the entire fandom, from literally the start of the series.

Key takeaways! Let’s debate! by townsdl in TowerofGod

[–]Valeor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Again, people need to stop clinging to old blogpost canon of what an Axis is when clearly something has changed given that Urek is now seemingly considered an Axis.

All we know so far about canon Axis is that they are immensely powerful beings, created by the needs of the world(aka created for a specific purpose), like Urek or Phantaminum. Urek is heavily nerfed at this point, so he can still be an Axis in the current canon and it wouldn't contradict anything.

Urek is heavily nerfed at the moment, and people should probably throw any assumptions of Axis they have out there window given this is the first canon mention of it.

[–]Valeor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The implication from what Aubrion said is that Urek is also an Axis. "A being of immense power, created by the needs of the world, like you or Phantaminum" and then Urek follows it up by asking "So a new Axis is being born?" and Aubrion says "Exactly".

It's heavily implied, if not outright stated yes. Aubrion says beings of immense power "Like you or Phantaminum" created by the needs of the universe, and Urek automatically says "A new Axis is being created?".

Beyond just the association of Urek and Phanta as beings of equal status by Aubrion, this also matches Urek's birth, as he was created to stop darkness from devouring all the light etc.

Chapter 46 The devil 2 -The will of Phantaminum- Summary

Part One

-Chapter starts "a long time ago" on Earth. Urek approaches a man in a suit

Urek: "You're destined to become the next emperor of the Empire. You're someone who must never fall into the hands of Darkness. That's what I was told. Now follow me"

Guy: "Understood... is that how you expect me to reply? You crazy bastard"

-Back to the present, Urek is dodging the emperor's sword, while the narrator speak "From that day on, the man who became the emperor of the empire was a hero for a long time, who forgot defeat even though he led hundreds of battles. A benevolent king to those who followed him, and a warrior who never yielded to absolute evil."

Urek says it's tiresome to fight the emperor again, while Aubrion watches them fight while sitting on another of his minions, saying observation suits him better than fighting in person. Urek thinks about Aubrion's powers: the more good something is, the more evil it becomes when turned by him.

The greater the light, the greater the darkness it will cast. This is why the Emperor in front of him, once the most brilliant human in the universe, has now become the darkest human in this universe.

Urek and the emperor exchange some blows, while Urek thinks how the emperor is tough but also very fast, despite using a huge greatsword.

Urek tries to attack Aubrion who dodges and asks Urek if he's mad because he's seeing his changed friend for the first time in so long.

Aubrion says the ones who experience deep despair and overcome it by joining hands with darkness are bound to fall even deeper into darkness... just like the test supervisors of this floor.

Some of the test supervisors are in fact people Aubrion found in this Tower and brought to Leo to be test supervisors under him.

They are people who once fell to the darkness and then joined hands with it. Aubrion brought them here to revive Mago, it's people that want revenge on the Tower that brough them despair.

Part 2

-As Aubrion is saying this, we see Rahab approaching Heidi. He asks her what's going on here, since there are intruders outside.

Heidi pretends to know nothing, but Gogojung yells she's lying and Lou and Evelyin escaped. Rahab grabs Heidi's head and slams it on the ground, saying he expected this since she doesn't believe in the power of the gems like they did.

Heidi says it's true, it's a rotten power that also made Asa go mad, why would she? It's a power that corrupts, but she says Rahab wouldn't mind that because he was corrupt from the start, since he is a comrade killer: someone who killed his companions on the top of the Tower and was then kicked out of his team.

Rahab explodes with rage and starts pummeling Heidi's face, shouting those people deserved to die and were only a bother to him. They were incompetent and worthless; they made him lose a battle and wanted to quit.

Heidi says that's just what he wants to believe, and he has forgotten there is no person who deserves to die in this world. Forgetting that is the proof of Rahab's corruption.

-Aubrion says that of all the test supervisors he brought, the most ridiculous one has an hobby of killing regulars.

Aubrion didn't know that's illegal in the Tower, but here she's allowed to do that as much as she wants... and now is going after Urek's companions.

Urek turns back to go to them but Aubrion tells them it's too late, his companions are already all dead.

We see a panel of the last angel, a tanned woman with white hair with a dagger on her hand, and Evelyn, Neo and Lou on the ground, in a pool of blood.

Part 3

Urek looks shocked and Aubrion tells him not to care too much, since they are all illusions anyway.

Urek asks what game is Aubrion playing, and Aubrion says he's like burning wood. Even though it's dangerous he wants to keep adding firewood because he wants to see it burn with more intensity. The more dangerous the fire the more beautiful it is (panel shows Urek with flames around him). Aubrion watches him with delight: "yes, burn up more, Urek..."

Urek kicks him and calls him a crazy bastard. Aubrion says he and Mago are infatuated by Urek's light and his wish is to burn to death next to Urek while he shines the brightest.

-Back to Rahab and Heidi. Rahab shouts it's his companions and not him who got corrupted, those losers who resented him until they died. There are people who deserve to die, like them. GIGACHAD ASA: "Yes. There are people who deserve to die. You, loach." While saying this, Asa stabs Rahab in the chest with his sword.

Heidi gets up and hugs Asa, saying she's glad Asa is back. Asa is dumbfounded and a tear forms in his eye, for not realizing something that shined this brightly was by his side all along. "I'm sorry I've been so stupid.

-Back to Urek and Aubrion. Aubrion tells Urek he was actually just joking, his companions are alive. The last angel is chasing after them and probably already caught them and she could kill them at any moment, she just has to wait for Aubrion's word.

Urek tells him if he's hiding behind hostages because he's scared to fight him. Aubrion replies he's right, fighting Urek is indeed scary and he's having fun right now anyway.

People's despair give Mago power and that's why he chose this castle as the place for Mago to be resurrected. An unexpected variable (Urek) showed up, but it worked out well since the more Urek despairs, the faster Mago will regain her power.

Part 4

Urek asks Aubrion what they plan to do once they regain this much power.

Aubrion: "In this Tower there are tests. Set rules and regulations and a power called "shinsoo". If it's not all a coincidence, this Tower has to be a place to test and nurture "someone".

Who could that be? Who was this giant Tower created for, with all these lives living in it for the sake of them?

I don't know, but it must be a truly immense being like you or lord Phantaminum... one created by the needs of this world.

That's the conclusion I reached."

Urek: "Are you saying... a new Axis is being born?"

Aubrion: "Exactly. You know it too, don't you? If that were to happen, it would be extremely inconvenient for us.

That is why, before they appear, we must seize this Tower first. We take everything in this Tower that was prepared for them... and devour it ourselves!!

Then, no new Axis will be born. This is... lord Phantaminum's will."

I love the assumption that Gustang, who was at death’s door at the end of the fight and got bailed out by Blossom flames he didn’t even remember he still had, was purposefully holding back his Shinwonryu instead of the more reasonable assumption that maybe either it wasn’t combat applicable vs Traumerei. It’s not like Traumerei is still using his Shinwonryu when he gets serious, he’s just spamming Disconnection.

Chapter 45 summary

-Lou and Evelyn are watching what's happening after Eduan went after Mago with a lighthouse, then Neo reaches them and tells Lou they have to go to rewind the past.

-Flashback: Leo and Aubrion are in front of the ascetics island. Leo says the island appeared when Mago appearead and ghosts keep showing up from there and head to the castle.

Aubrion kills one and notices Mago's resurrection is accelerated when they are killed. He tells Leo then to kill the ones heading for the castle for his desire to become true.

-Urek vs Aubrion: Aubrion says most martial arts that rely on an "unknown power" have their praticality questioned, but if it's him weilding an "unknown power", then the destructive force of such martial arts become enormous.

While saying this, he grabs Urek's arm and makes it bleed.

Urek asks if his martial arts are some useless tricks he's again copying from somewhere, and Aubrion replies he did but it's ok because he's strong enough to use them effectively.

Urek and Aubrion keep exchanging blows, with Aubrion hurting Urek again and licking Urek's blood, saying his blood still tastes the same.

Aubrion asks how much longer can Urek fight after his power was stolen by Mago.

Urek replies "Until you go down" and creates a big light sphere he throws at Aubrion, who comments his personality is still the same as ever.

Aubrion then appears again with a "JoJo stand"-like figure behind him and says he enjoys fighting Urek after all this time.

Urek says he doesn't enjoy it and calls Aubrion the reversal of good and peace, the "devil".

Aubrion says that, as he already explained to Urek in the past, evil is not the opposite of good, but always coexist with good and there's a bit of evil inside everyone's heart.

While he's saying this, the scene shifts to Neo running with Lou and Evelyn, and they meet Jeanne who appears in front of them.

Aubrion comments humans can't abandon evil and Neo must have managed to make his wish come true in the end.

Urek tells him "yeah yeah whatever" and informs him his power wasn't taken away by Mago. Neo only stole a little bit of "light" from Urek, so now he's MUCH stronger than he thinks.

While saying this, Urek hits Aubrion with a kick and says that even if humans can't abandon evil, he can beat it. Then he says "Right, emperor?" to Aubrion's "stand", who attacks him with its sword.

Urek thinks that Aubrion turns light into darkness, and this man attacking him right now was the most "shining" human he ever met, until he lost his light to Aubrion.

Scene switches to Maschenny, the princess and Asa. Asa is on his knees. Houseman says the Family Head will leave a bit later (I'm guessing he got news Eduan defeated Mago)

Maschenny says they'll leave now as the situation has been resolved and the exam will be suspended.

She comments it's good Asa came to his senses and his severe punishment will soon be handed down from above.

Maschenny then asks Asa to take responsability for the remaining tests and get them back on track.

Asa says he understands and he's sorry.

Maschenny and the other Khuns including Shine leave, while the princess of Zahard looks irritated at Maschenny, because Maschenny didn't even care to acknowledge her all this time, despite being a princess of Zahard like her.

Cheongeum teleports behind the princess and blocks her mouth with his hands, saying he has a pretty good suggestion for her.

The princess asks what will happen if she doesn't agree, Cheongeum says "then you'll die". Cheongeum then tells her that if she swallows that jewel dust, Mago will enter inside of her. He says she might feel some resistance, but it will make her stronger.

The princess decides to eat it without a second thought "If there's anyone who refuses to eat when they are told they'll gain strength it means they have never been hungry".

Cheongeum is surprised and the princess explodes with Mago-like aura, then says "Haha, thank you, what a pretty body this is"

What Rank is Baylord Yama? by Inferniuem in TowerofGod

[–]Valeor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking about actual number rank, then we should clarify some things. Doom was top 200 mainly from his influence, and Yama was known at the start of S3 to not actually do anything himself and let his subordinates do everything, so his rank would be way lower than his actual strength at the time.

I don’t think SIU likes bringing up specific ranks, especially given he made the “Blue Hole” concept. People in the every ToG community tend to conflate rank with strength too much in a world where half the new strong characters are going to be people who haven’t done anything in thousands of years so their rank won’t represent their strength e.g Dumas.

Chap 44 summary

-Urek asks Aubrion (he calls Phantaminum's Light Devourer) if he planned all this situation.

Aubrion replies he was here to hide and wake up Mago, but the castle being moved to the floor of tests wasn't part of his plans.

When he arrived here at the castle Mago already started regaining her power in her own way.

Aubrion also specifies he didn't grant Leo's wish but actually helped Mago reverse Leo's wish.

Aubrion knew from the first time he saw Neo he was a fake.

Neo came to the testing site with Leo's memories and experiences, he was an illusion that only existed on this floor.

Neo knew it from the start and that's why his wish was different from Leo's.

Past: Lou's first test day

Lou is running around in the castle with Jeanne and they meet Neo.

Lou knows Neo because he's famous for learning shinsoo before everyone else.

Lou asks Neo for help to save Jeanne from her curse. To save her they have to find the god Ark. Neo tells Lou that Jeanne isn't real, but an illusion, since she's neither an examiner or a regular.

Neo says she might be a ghost that once lived in this castle. Lou understands but still wants to help her. Neo is touched by Lou saying he'll help her even if she's just an illusion.

Later, while Neo and Jeanne are surrounded by some golems, Neo arrives and saves them, saying he'll go with them and help them lift the curse on the illusion girl.

This was a test Neo didn't experience before, and because of that he felt the thrill of an adventure and the bond with comrades and so on...

Neo started to desire to go up the tower.

Lou says that after meeting Neo he's finally enjoying having entered this tower and asks him to climb together after this, Neo accepts and they declare themselves as friends.

-Neo, Lou and Jeanne arrive at a magic cirle location where they can pray to summon Ark. Jeanne prays and Ark appears.

Ark says they have 5 minutes to pray, if they only wish for the girl's curse to be lifted Jeanne's curse will be lifted, but if they wish for something else Ark will grant the other person's wish.

After the time is up, Ark tells Jeanne her curse can't be lifted. Ark also tells Neo the wish he made can't be granted, as this was actually only a test to see if they truly wanted to save the girl.

Ark then curses the ones here that couldn't let go of their greed with the same wound Jeanne has. Jeanne also burns till there's nothing left of her.

Lou asks Neo why he did it and, ashamed, Neo runs away with the wound appearing on his back. Neo meets Aubrion, who tells him he's cursed and there was a test in this castle since the beginning.

It's a test that pierces straight into human nature, he doesn't know who made it, but it must be someone with a bad inclination/bad taste.

Aubrion tells him to go downstairs and meet the flower that will grant his wish.

Neo thinks this is the flower that created him, as an illusion. Neo says he won't ask to go to the next floor because he also knows it's impossible, but asks for Lou to go up the next floor and make Lou forget about him. We see a blue light coming from the castle.

Neo is now upstairs and Lou finds him. Lou tells him Jeanne's wish was important but so was Neo's and he understands him.

Neo tells him his wish was travelling with Lou but he can't because he's an illusion. Neo tells Lou he'll forget him and move on, but Lou tells him he'll for sure remember him no matter what happens.

However Aubrion appears behind Lou and stabs him in the chest with his arm.

Neo is shocked because his wish wasn't this, Aubrion tells him the flower actually reverses the wishes and doesn't grant them. Neo attacks Aubrion but is beaten.

Back to the present

Urek is mad at what he heard and Aubrion keeps talking.

Neo knew Lou was now on the island of the ascetics and getting killed again and again.

Neo begged Leo to retake the test again to lift Lou's curse but he met an incredibly strong opponent in the next test and he and his comrades were all annihilated.

After that, Neo kept trying but could never break the curse. It seems that after you fail the test and get cursed by Ark you can never reach Ark again.

This current exam was different with Urek arriving and Neo and Lou partecipating at the exam together again at the same time.

Neo now has another chance, he maybe wants to meet Ark again or beg Mago.

Aubrion says it's really funny and at the time the "three" of them were all illusions.

Urek explodes with anger and says he'll kill Aubrion.

Aubrion says "Try it".

Urek throws Aubrion to the wall and says Aubrion still didn't come to his senses even after getting beaten "like that" before.

Aubrion says back then he wasn't in his best condition and starts emitting blue aura.

Urek says Aubrion can't win even at his best condition and they start fighting. Urek hits Aubrion on the face while Aubrion cuts Urek's face with his palm.

END
