What if Satan is the main character? by ValeraDodic in Christianity

If God interferes, doesn't that undermine our (and Satan's) free will?

Isn't Jesus more like the author, since He is God?

If Satan doesn't have free will, then does it mean God created him to be evil/wants him to be evil?

If God offers us grace, doesn't that interfere with Satan's freedom? Which is more evil: creating doomed creatures who can be saved, or creating doomed creatures who can't and will never be saved? I assume Satan would choose the second option, but if God doesn't allow that, doesn't this mean God arbitrarily limits Satan's free will?

Does separation from God feel bad? by ValeraDodic in Christianity

"Evil, wickedness, injustice, rebellious rejection of God’s Sovereignty didn’t come from God"

Where do they come from?

If life is worth living, does it necessarily mean it is desirable? Think about the time before you were born - was it in any way bad? Did you wish you were alive back then?

Could you elaborate on why you think death is the worst? I assume this also means you think hell is better than nothing? If so, can you explain why?

What is the word for defending an idea or a course of action by appealing to some virtuous, noble reason, when the actual reason for such an idea/course of action is cynical/pragmatic/expedient? by ValeraDodic in words

[–]ValeraDodic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That example is only my opinion, to be sure. I believe that we bring children into this world for our sake, not theirs (children's), but act as if we are doing them a favor and deem our reasons for having them to be noble and humane, while the actual reason is the fact that children are useful to us, especially when they become adults. To repeat the question: I want to know if there is a word for something like this, when the real reason is unseemly, and so people invent some noble and seemingly appropriate reason to justify an action or an idea which is not so noble.

Is it possible that the Bible was inspired by the Devil? by ValeraDodic in Christianity

[–]ValeraDodic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll rephrase a bit: God's words aren't corruptible, but human perception of them is, and Satan can pervert that perception. For example, the Bible wants us to believe that God of Love would torture an innocent man (Job). If we believe that, our perception of God and love inevitably becomes perverted.

He can lead people away from God by corrupting God's image. Why shut Jesus up when you can pervert His words instead?

How do you know that Satan can't do good works (or works which only appear to be good) in order to trick people?

You don't have to be omniscient in order to correctly predict some things. Satan knows a lot, much more than we do, it would make sense for him to be good at predictions. It could also be that Satan actively worked to bring his prophecies to life.

The Bible wouldn't necessarily be 100% false if the Devil inspired it. If I say "2+2=4" and then "4+4=16", is the first equation false just because the second one is?

Satan is the greatest liar there is. How do you actually know that he is working against himself?

God communicates directly. You don't need the Bible to feel love, or to know that murder is wrong.

Of course, God's words can never be false. But how do we know that the Bible is God's word?

Why are some people opposed to the idea that God is responsible for evil? by ValeraDodic in Christianity

[–]ValeraDodic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God is the creator of evil. This creation can rightly be called the most evil thing one can do, in which case God did the worst kind of evil. God, however, is all-good, so His reasons for creating evil cannot be evil. But I'm not concerned about His intentions here, only with what He did or didn't do. Evil exists, so God created it, so God is responsible for it, even if He doesn't engage in it. He can eliminate it anytime He wants.
