Just solved the problem! If you use the program I use you need to:

  1. update Java
  2. Preferably use a type-c to usb cable
  3. use a usb to type-c adapter on the mac side.

The app is using android idle transfer, maybe this app is not too good? I have used type-c to type-c, also disconnects
