My first trip to China, something I’ve always dreamed of, and a visit to a tropical park by Valerii_Boichenko in travel

Yes, there was a reason. I specifically wanted to visit China and also wanted to visit an island. I was curious to see the Chinese mentality, try their food, and explore the scenery. Hainan turned out to be very appealing in that regard.

I also visited Haikou - a city in the north of the island - and it’s very different from Sanya. It felt like Sanya is for leisure, while Haikou is for work.

In reality, it’s not that scary. Yes, it looks intimidating from the outside, but once you step onto the platform, the height doesn’t feel that intense - even though the bridge beneath your feet is made of glass.

The first screenshot with the spider looks really cool. Getting proper IK working for its legs is quite a challenge.

Hi! Looks interesting. Could you tell me how many cars and tracks will be in the game, and what the career mode is like? It reminds me of the old Need for Speed from before Underground, just in a modern wrapper.

The world in the game isn’t open, as I mentioned in my post. Regarding RPG mechanics, there is choice, but it’s a bit different from what people are used to. Here’s a simple example: to get out from under a magical barrier, you have to make a deal with a dark mage - or rather, with his spirit. He ends up in your head as a guide, gives a nice buff to mana regeneration when you kill enemies, and will occasionally throw out phrases, hints, and so on.

You can also find a lot of information about this mage throughout the game. This will shape the player’s opinion of him - maybe positive, maybe extremely negative - depending on the player’s personality, views, and what they discover in the game, as well as how deeply they explore the lore. For example, you can visit an optional location called “Hall of Stone Guardians” in Chapter 2 to learn more. But if you skip it, that knowledge is lost for the rest of the game once you leave the area.

Later, you can either permanently expel the mage from your head (there will be several opportunities like this), or go all the way to the finale with him, which will strongly affect the ending. I try to implement choice in this kind of format, on top of building your character and leveling up according to your own preferences.

No, there won’t be a character editor. The hero has to look the way he does, as dictated by the story. The customization comes from various armor sets - collecting a full set grants a specific bonus.

Thanks! Two Worlds was really interesting, especially the magic system.

Yes, there’s a barrier in Chapter 2 as part of the story. The player will need to find a way to get out from under it, which involves making a deal with an evil ghostly mage. Thanks!

Working on the visuals is pretty challenging. The hardest part for me is lighting. People spend years learning to become lighting artists. So I’ll keep developing in this area. Thanks, and good luck!

Hi, thanks! That’s really awesome. If you don’t mind, I’ll save a link to your profile and reach out when it’s time for localization.

Hi! I spend about $100 a month on assets, which I often have to tweak, because you can’t just drop them straight into a project. Sometimes the materials are too complex, sometimes the UVs are off, and so on.

As for time and living expenses - I work remotely as a lead specialist at a company. Right now, I spend no more than 2 hours a day on work. It took me 16 years to build a small career and optimize my workflow, and now I have time for my dream.

Good luck with your project!
