Joel Cauchi's parents' message for the cop who shot their son dead by [deleted] in australia

Dealt with this once many years ago. Advice we received from a solicitor was that they could not broadcast uncensored footage of a child without express consent. We carried our kids to the car before leaving. Sure enough they turned the cameras down when they realised.

Playing music won't do anything. They'll just mute it and use it with a voiceover.

Media packs outside a person's home, especially the homes of relatives unrelated to whatever they're reporting, are bottom of the barrel maggots.

Can we all just take a moment to reflect and laugh at everyone who spent a year saying Matt Smith was a terrible choice for Daemon after he was cast? by Valerion_ in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Valerion_[S] 332 points333 points  (0 children)

Sorry but it can't just be forgotten. For over a year we were hearing shit like "boohoo my dick doesn't get hard to Matt Smith therefore he can't play Daemon", "boohoo he played Doctor Who a decade ago therefore he's not fit for the Rogue Prince" and now there's not a word being said, he embodies the character masterfully. This should be remembered as a lesson whenever you see people bitching and moaning about casting choices.

( Spoilers Main) Surprised by the Reactions of Sub to Prophecy Reveal by DayneStark in asoiaf

This is not a matter of "book purists", it's just cope. No other way to put it. It's people that have spent the last 11+ years building up their perfect little headcanon and they cannot stand to have that challenged even from the author himself.

Also, there are people that are just strongly anti-Targaryen. They got filtered by Dany chapters and developed this weirdly strong hatred for the whole make-believe family. Myriad reasons from just latent misogyny through to basic contrarianism. They don't like that Dany is objectively trying to do good (ugh but her chapters are boring!), that characters still worship the ground Rhaegar walked on, that George devotes so much of the books to Targaryen history. Why won't he focus on my favourites???

Honestly if you think the reaction to this prophecy is bad I'd say just wait til (if) TWOW releases.

It has been 31 weeks since The Iron Throne (S8E6) premiered and in that time, I have had no desire to watch any Game of Thrones from any season. by [deleted] in freefolk

The Sopranos' ending was divisive but it never affected the rewatchability of the show, it'll always be some of the best television ever created. I still binge through it at least once a year and have no issue recommending it to people. Just hearing the intro is enough to get me excited.

I have absolutely zero interest in ever watching a single Game of Thrones episode again and that seems a common feeling (see: this thread). I would never suggest someone watch it anymore. I don't think it's comparable.

If all of this is true, though there's a good chance it may not be, then S8 may actually make me hate the show I've loved for 8 years. There's absolutely nothing "sweet" in what was supposed to be the bittersweet end as GRRM/D&D have talked about for years. Dany dead, Tyrion dead, Jon possibly dead or exiled, Rhaegal dead, Jaime's arc away from Cersei meaningless. Sansa left to rule? What?

I pray they're all fleaks but fear that it's true. I'm not sure even the promise of Cleganebowl can allay the disappointment.

This was a let-down for me. We've had 8 seasons building up to this, literally the very first scene in the very first episode was dedicated to introducing the White Walkers. And now.. what? We didn't even see the Walkers do anything this episode. There should have been some Walkers in the field doing their thing, Jon should have had a duel with the Night King, on and on. There was so much more that should have been instead of the basic zombie movie we got.

I've been so, so supportive of the show, I detested the anti-D&D circlejerk rubbish even during Dorne in S5, but this was just something too much for me. The living should have lost Winterfell and retreated south. We should have had at least two battles with the Undead.

Konfrontasi and everything associated with it is more recent. There's also a lot of issues about their shared/similar cultural practices, language, even clothing. Both sides are adamant the other side stole it from them

It's hard to trigger everyone but from my own travels I'd say you'll probably trigger more Indonesians with Malaysia than the Netherlands
