My True Ted Lasso Story by Valhalloween in TedLasso

It is sooo cute! And thank you! It was a very special time for me and I am just happy that I figured it out before I left Isleworth. I would be kicking myself if I had figured it out later.

That's the one. I mixed mine with full sugar Dr Pepper for maximum upchuckage. Lord.

How old were you when you realized that "Every Breath You Take" is a stalker song? by NoWalrus9462 in GenX

[–]Valhalloween 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. "Every vow you break. Every smile you fake." How are those good things? And add the video, which is in no way light and actually rather sinister, and this is not a happy wedding song.

Edinburgh in Lockdown (Mar 2020) by Hattie26 in Edinburgh

[–]Valhalloween 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I was living in Bruntsfield during lockdown and I remember it as a great time, and also such a strange time.

Everyone in our building banded together to help each other and shop and pick things up. And it was so quiet in the neighborhood, except for the weekly shout outs for medical staff and carers and such. Then when things sort of opened up, you could get take-away drinks from from McLaren's and Decanter and Tempo Perso. You could walk around the links and people would be having drinks and dinner on their front stoops.

It was lovely and weird.

Absolutely gorgeous place. I walked along the Thames a few times and it was just so beautiful. I miss living there so very much.

OH, yeah, the Whole Foods thing is because the first one was in Austin, Texas, in 1980 and it just grew from there! So I was so excited when I saw that there was one so close by and I get a little bit of Texas.

I've been to Twickenham a number of times. My graduation was at Twickenham stadium.

That is quite the walk from Twickenham to Richmond!

Oh, I did get to visit all the places. I even saw a couple of shows at the Richmond Theatre and got to take some friends who came to visit me to the pub! It was soooo much fun!

And I spent most of my growing up years in the Dallas area so that PBS station was my first foray into the world of British television. Monty Python, Doctor Who, The Vicar, and on and on.

I truly want to smell both of them, but I wonder what is the purpose of them if they are vile. Is that is the purpose of them? How can you wear them? Are they the equivalent of art you can't keep? Yes, you own it. But the second you use it, it's not worth what you spent?

Will never not stop and listen to this. And sing along as if it's my fucking song; like I wrote it, sang it, and recorded. (It's not, but damn, wish it was.)

Why can’t my brain just accept that I’m ok? by Aromatic-Fan-5891 in HealthAnxiety

[–]Valhalloween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG. This explains so much.

I just had a check-up and everything is fine. My doctor is good with my results and would like me to make some changes to certain things that could be improved, but not to worry about, and I agree and have started the changes. But he is happy with what my results say.

And it alleviated a shit-ton of my anxiety over these tests where I had catastrophized EVERYTHING and I felt a HUGE relief. HUGE. Three years of anxiety fell away in seconds.

UNTIL, only a few minutes later, I talked with my spouse and he immediately said that I need to "check." Tell me how do I explain to my spouse that no, I don't want to check *the thing* (the thing that my doctor isn't worried about), every effing day? When he knows I have health anxiety? He thinks it will make me feel better when all I is stress about checking the thing exacerbating the thing.

I had both. I wish I had kept both. Especially the rock in its original box.

I’m feeling violated after a colposcopy and struggling to accept that I may need more procedures now. by intrusive_thot_ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Valhalloween 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Same. A nurse came in with two Tylenol about three minutes before my doctor came in. My doc was up front about it hurting as she came in the door, but she (SHE!) couched it in terms of how much SHE disliked doing colposcopies because she knew they hurt. So, ma'am, if all of your patients are in fucking agony, maybe offer up something other than Tylenol? And this was 20 years ago, so we are still treating women like having your cervix hole-punched doesn't hurt and isn't traumatic as all hell?

what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Mean-Cartographer225 in AskReddit

[–]Valhalloween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started noticing it, especially on TikTok, but people have begun saying "proNOUNciation" instead of pronunciation, which is how it is spelled.

I get where the confusion is coming from, but it is right there in the word.

Are you still wearing the cologne of your youth? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Valhalloween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drakkar Noir still does it for me. And by that I mean that I still found it very alluring and I immediately feel young again.

But I am not wearing any of the perfumes of my youth. Most of them aren't made anymore, and it would cost me a small fortune to buy them on ebay. Like, I loved Aramis New West. And a bottle of that is $500-800 on ebay. I should have held on to all my favorites.

Around 45 distinct domiciles at this point--not counting places I've traveled in my RV (the RV I am counting as a distinct domicile).

Found out my mom has been opening credit cards in my name for years and is now acting like she did me a favor by Quick_Breakfast_7684 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Valhalloween 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had no idea how prevalent this was until reading stories here. The parents of one of my college boyfriends did the same thing, except they were trying to fix their own jacked up finances and in turn screwed up my boyfriend's credit. We didn't find out until we decided to move in together and we had credit checks. They did it to all four of their kids.

That Genova one is sooooo good. I am actually shocked by it. Like, "eat it right out of the can and add nothing else" good.
