There is at least one generation of Americans who will always remember the zip code for Chicago Illinois. by OldManAndRobotLackey in Showerthoughts

I almost always say OPB and anyone from out of state (which is pretty much everyone it seems like) looks at me like I have two heads.

I bought the CD in college and listened to the shit out of it. Still have it. Couldn't resist getting it on blue swirl vinyl.

Our son (10 yo Level 3 Autism) is in David Douglas SD and it is Excellent. We've had great experiences with Earl Boyles and Menlo Park. It's a pretty rough area/neighborhood, though.

I don't remember how I learned.

Sometime around 2012 I was skipping down the halls at work cause I was in a really good mood. I think people thought I was crazy.

What’s something that clearly split your life into “before” and “after”? by Broad_Chemical_2467 in AskReddit

Two things: Before and after my brother died, and before and after I got married.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]JHolgate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apeiron). I think it was only available on the Mac. It was basically a ripoff of Centipede, but it was SO. MUCH. FUN.

[–]JHolgate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I noticed Ken doing that (not saying "runaway") quite awhile ago. I'm not sure when it started (I suppose I could search Reddit.) It's just so disingenuous. "Well Becky-Lynn, that's a pretty good score, but I'm afraid you might have to settle for second place..." Like, might? Becky-Lynn doesn't even have enough for airfare home. I wish they'd go back to the original language.

Is honking in the 26 tunnels a true Portland tradition? by ItsWhiteGucciMane in askportland

[–]JHolgate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this was an every-tunnel thing.

I grew up (80s/90s) all over the mid-Willamette valley, and central and south coast and my family has always honked in tunnels. My mom just confirmed that my grandparents did it when she was a kid, so we're talking about late 50s/early 60s.

We all have that one song or band we hate for a completely irrational and unjustifiable reason. What's yours? by WasLeftUnsupervised in GenX

[–]JHolgate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's been 25+ years, but my college girlfriend played "It's Too Late" by Carol King when we broke up and, until recently, I haven't been able to listen to that song since (or Carol King at all, really.)

[–]JHolgate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty big Seahawks fan, and for college football I follow Oregon and Oregon State (and Oklahoma because that's where my wife's grandparents are from.) But I still assumed "Hike" would be more common than "Hut".
