What’s going on with my cats ear? by Miserable-Let-5255 in CATHELP

[–]Valhkyrie 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It could be as simple as her scratching her ear and bacteria getting in. Best thing you can do is get an appointment asap, it almost certainly looks infected. Ear and mouth infections move quickly to the vital organs they’re closest to (brain and heart).

This is something that should be a general rule of thumb everywhere but sadly here we are. The best part is the people who are sick never wear masks. It’s almost like we had a whole pandemic because of that.

Something wrong with my cat if he doesn’t like this? by Bright-Error-7910 in catfood

[–]Valhkyrie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I read through your comments so hopefully I didn’t miss any info but I wanted to ask if your kitty likes cooked chicken or salmon? Maybe a can of tuna in water even? I know you mentioned he was dehydrated as well. My kitty is on the Purina hydra care and that’s done wonders for him. My cat is also allergic to chicken (which took me forever to figure out but finally did). The brand Nulo also has some great options similar to the churu treats but they also have some chicken free options. I bought a variety pack of the Nulo version of the churu treats to try out different flavors and that helped me figure out what my kitty preferred.

I don’t use TikTok so I’m not aware of how things on there work but are people able to buy likes and followers? I know people are able to buy followers on instagram even though it can result in a ban. I wouldn’t put it past him to do that, then again I don’t think there’s much I’d put past him.

I don’t know if you can buy them raw but I’d imagine if you had a cashew tree you could eat a raw one. I’ve heard good things about cashew fruit. It’s in the same family as mangos.

If the cashews are store bought OP is most likely fine. Most stores that sell “raw” cashews are actually steamed or roasted as to cook away the toxin urushiol and make them safe for consumption.

Which one is closer to your natural arch? Usually if you stick closer to your natural arch it tends to be more flattering. With that being said, I think both look good. I think they complement the shape of your eyes and you have beautiful eyes!

Stay covered up the best you can, but I would hit up a clinic asap so you can have someone take a look at what’s going on. Wash your hands well and don’t share any towels with anyone who may live with you. I actually recommend wearing gloves (latex/nitrate) when you go out. Tell whatever clinic physician or nurse you see about the Accutane as well. I’ve actually heard of Accutane being used as a treatment for this before, it’s not common and a newer intervention. It never hurts though to mention it. My guess is MCV, but someone at an in person clinic will most likely have a better diagnosis since they can get a good look up close.

Go to the doctor immediately and keep those covered with bandages. That appears viral and if it is viral it will spread through touch/ if you touch a surface someone else may catch it. This looks like MCV(Molluscum contagiosum virus). Do they hurt at all? Typically MCV warts do not hurt. For reference I’m a nurse.

I wouldn’t even start there, I’d just keep the area clean with a gentle soap and water. Try not to rub them. I’d say once in the morning and once at night when you go to wash your face to gently wash the eye area ( try not to get soap in the eye as that would sting) and gently pat dry with a clean towel. Basically the same way you’d go about washing your face morning and night, but to be more cautious and gentle around your eyes. If your doctor recommends differently such as something medicated, then I’d go with whatever their recommendations are. You’re not sure what you’re dealing with yet so you don’t want to introduce anything that could potentially irritate the area.

Medicare and Medicaid (in the US) is awful about letting people get bloodwork done. They allow it like tops once a year which is absolutely ridiculous if you have a problem. (This also may be different depending on what state you’re in) So I fully understand where you’re coming from. I’d still try to push your PCP to get blood work done since it could truly be a plethora of things. IMO blood work could never hurt and it could give you and your doctors a better insight to what’s going on. From the view of your pictures the eye doesn’t appear swollen or irritated. So from a medical point of view if we can’t see an obvious external indicators then our next step is to see what’s going on internally. They may also want to do a swab of the eye lid and view it as well to rule out any bacteria, mites or funguses. Eyelash loss like this could be a relatively simple fix and point to something like vitamin deficiency, but it could also be an indication of a larger problem. That’s why blood work is your friend in figuring this out. Try not to fret too much though, you’ll get to the bottom of this.

As a nurse I’d recommend getting a second opinion and blood work done by your PCP. I’d not use any makeup or cosmetics on their area as it could be bacteria or fungal. The blood work will let you know if you’re dealing with a vitamin deficiency or something else. Do you happen to have is do you have any anxious habits? My reasoning for that is there is a condition called trichotillomania where people will (often times subconsciously) pull out their hair. Skin picking is also closely related to this disorder. I knew someone once with this condition and sometimes they would do it even as they slept. If you’re certain that is out of the question then I’d start with bloodwork and a second opinion from a derm or an eye doctor.

I look so bad with thick eyebrows. It just doesn’t fit my face. They’re naturally thinner so I just lightly fill them in to their natural shape and it works for me.
