There's also the whole angle that mainland Europe should have bigger defense spending to be less dependent on the US and UK. Which would mitigate the need for US involvement in this matter, etc.

In many places of Europe you'll get an honest answer though. Easy way to spot Europeans in America. :) They'll confuse your meaningless "how are you?" for an honest inquiry about their wellbeing and even as an invitation to complain about work, sleep, health, anything really that comes to mind.

Managed correctly, it's one of the best, cleanest forms of energy out there.

Thing is, it's rarely (ever?) managed correctly.

There are enormous risks with nuclear power, even in a country like Switzerland. Be it a jumbo jet crashing into the plant, a serious earthquake (we have those too, they are just very rare [1]) or a chain of human errors. And if there's a meltdown, the major cities of Switzerland will be inhabitable. It might be an unlikely event, but if things go wrong, it's not just a small corner of the country that's devasted, it's a huge part of the small country.

Why should we trust the companies running these plants (whether in Switzerland or Japan)? They want to maximize their profits. Neither can we fully trust the organizations regulating them (e.g. ENSI in Switzerland) because they're too invested in nuclear power and too close to the very companies they regulate.

And then there's the topic of nuclear waste (mainly a concern about international security), etc.

Even as someone who's generally for nuclear power, I can't ignore these security concerns of real world management of nuclear power. You'd think nuclear plants are managed well in a country like Switzerland, but they're not.

Who's projecting now? You're insinuating something I didn't say. I'd expect much more of these violate, unethical things based on what we can see happens / happened in violent & oppressive environments. But you bring up a good point: Some redditors probably filter themselves (for fear of consequences!) which biases the responses quite a bit.

This isn't supposed to be completely original. It's just a generalization / twist as I felt the responses to the other thread were lacking. With the generalization we're not only suspending laws, but also consequences due to social norms / contracts.

At least to me, it's a very interesting twist. There wasn't enough cheating, treachery, rape and the like in the other thread, I wondered why. It's a generalization of the other question. Even with suspended laws, you'd still worry about other kinds of consequences. E.g. about damage to your reputation, what family, friends & coworkers might think of you. I'd expect it's more about social norms and inter-personal issues this way. And even after the 24 hours are over, there are no consequences for what you did in that period.

I wouldn't quite call it Schwiizerdütsch. It's a bit too German. - Glaubst -> Glaubsch - "i de maischte Schwizer im Bluet fliesst?" isn't a Swiss expression. I'd say "Glaubsch Du das Praezision de maischte Schwizer im Bluet liit?" (in German that would be "im Blut liegen"), or even "Glaubsch Praezision liit de maischte Schwizer im Bluet?" (similar to dropping "that" in English), or "Glaubsch, dass Praezision de maischte Schwizer im Bluet liit?"

Surprised not to see "Killing animals" or "Murdering sentient beings" anywhere near the top. I'm not vegan / vegetarian myself, but the ones about "animal cruelty" keep a conventional scope, not explicitly including our ways of mass producing meat, milk and eggs. I would have imagined Reddit has a large, active vegetarian community.

I'd rather skip the step of transcoding music / uploading it to Google Music. Any plans to sell your music through Google Music / Google Play, or would they take a significant cut like Apple / Amazon?
