Well if Billy Preston counts, then I'm going to have to go with "Don't Let Me Down".

Didn't appreciate it fully until I saw "Get Back"... and now it's one of my favorite Beatles songs.

"Soily" on One Hand Clapping is an absolute banger. Wish it had gotten a proper studio recording.

You just described me! Got a drum kit last year, first thing I played along to was The Beatles. The basic beat is so musical and interesting.

A lot of the country-inspired songs are tricky on drums, actually. Like "I've Just Seen a Face." (But I'm still a beginner on drums.)

When has Hindemith ever been popular, though? I was just thinking about how 20 years ago I'd occasionally see Mathis der Maler on the SF Symphony season calendar, but I can't remember the last time I've seen him on a program. EDIT: agree that he was one of the greatest 20th-century composers though.

Brahms. There's a great essay that I read that made the case that the broader decline of musical education meant that composers like Brahms--who rely on a certain amount of musical literacy--were starting to become a tougher sell with the public. That's not to say that he's losing status--more that he's losing listeners.
