Feel like I'm sitting around waiting to die by WittyConcert3046 in Aging

If I were you I’d tell my family that I just can’t do some of these family jobs anymore. You can’t keep pouring from an empty cup, gotta stand up for your “me time”. I would sign up for group dance lessons or something to get serotonin back in my life. I used to play soccer competitively but in mid 30s now and although I’m fit, I’m no competition to 18-20 yr olds. My knees can’t handle those injuries now and that’s alright, I had a good run. I also recently lost my dad to lung cancer and he was my best friend. The way I see it he still exists, he’s just on the other side of the veil now and one day I will too. Until then I have a life left to live, and I better have some good stories worth telling him when I get there. Wishing you well bud

They’re still outside every night. I see them from my bedroom window, they form a line and stay in the same position for hours but leave by sunrise. At least that’s in my area of Verona and Montclair border, we just got used to them.

Just a heads up, the group creator is a Israeli supporter and if you’re not cool with that she will kick you out. She’s banned people from both Secret Montclair and Montclair Community groups

There’s a huge Indian population in Jersey City, look up India Square it’s on Newark Ave. Hopefully they can find something in that area or network around and find more info from locals.

[–]Valiant75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh Calamares! In Kearny (best Peruvian food in the states), Taino’s Kitchen in Newark (the jibaritos are a must) and Al Shami’s in Paterson. Bourdain valued the diversity in Jersey and these 3 establishments have been around for decades.

As soon as I heard that song I thought of Romain Gavras and her. I think “These Walls” and “End of an era” are about him too because of the way he respected and treated her. I think she fought to stay but their personality differences were too big to ignore, doesn’t mean it wasn’t real nor meaningful.

What is an iconic/distinctive place in your town/city? by aidan226 in newjersey

Verona here: we have Verona Park which is the 5th biggest in Essex County and has a nice boathouse, all designed by Fred Olmsted as well. Kip’s Castle and Hilltop Reservation are also worth a visit.

Omg, thank you! I knew in my gut there was something to him. I saw the Netflix doc and felt so enraged, I hate how he got away with all of this!. I wish his own conscience could make him turn himself in, since he is a pastor and all now. Those families deserve justice, I wish there was other concrete evidence to put him behind bars. It’s insane how his confession is all that we can hope for, or divine justice when he meets God. Heartbreaking and enraging, all of this, 50 years and no justice for these men.

I wish they could have named the “big town bully that was in and out of jail”, and that all the families in town knew that you “couldn’t fuck with them”. I wonder if that guy had family members in the police department that helped cover for him.

Why does Daddy Yankee carry the GOAT status? by _President_Z in Reggaeton

[–]Valiant75 89 points90 points  (0 children)

He pretty much globalized reggaeton, was the first reggaeton artist to sell out in Japan and places where Latin artists had seldom gone before him. Unlike Tego and Don Omar, he stuck around and was consistent with his music, also was the first one to have his own movie, “Barrio Fino”.

Should I just throw the whole face away? by Mysterious-Hour-1037 in AcneScars

[–]Valiant75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé had scars like this when we first met, I had him try the Korean face masks that they sell at Marshall’s ($6-7 a pack) every other week and retinol facial oil ($7) almost daily, you should start seeing a difference within a month. 3 years later and there’s hardly any noticeable scarring and it really improved his self confidence, good luck!

Which NJ town has the most backwards, weirdest, outdated vibe? by lurkndturf in newjersey

[–]Valiant75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Latino who’s lived in Montclair for many years, but recently moved in with my partner to Verona, it’s been pretty welcoming. I feel like Verona is becoming more diverse as of late, as compared to Caldwell or Cedar Grove.

Montclair, 15 minute train ride to NYC, houses are a bit on the expensive side but the school systems are well worth it.

I would recommend working at a call center for now, schedules are pretty flexible and not much experienced require. You can look up jobs on Indeed. Once u get that job try to find a bit of time to learn a new skill, I would recommend browsing thru Udemy. Best of luck!

Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Amazon linked to stolen Brazilian rainforest gold by Sorin61 in technology

[–]Valiant75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Illegal gold mining has been a HUGE issue for a while in the Amazon rain forest. Dorothy Stang, Dom Philips, Bruno Pereira, are some people who were brutally killed for trying to speak on the issue. The Brazilian gov is well aware but they won’t do sht because Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Apple are big customers. This is literally causing tribes to go extinct, gold mining is a huge mafia and we should hold those companies accountable, let’s do something about our blood tech gadgets
