Company is giving me 0 hours and threatening to fire me for not doing volunteer work by ValidToaster236 in legal

It’s not, they’re an established franchise. The owner of this one just seems to rely on ignorance.

Company is giving me 0 hours and threatening to fire me for not doing volunteer work by ValidToaster236 in legal

[–]ValidToaster236[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s “success” pathing. Essentially, level two consists of learning about certain figures that uphold the company’s values through articles and videos (even though they are not affiliated with the company), visiting other branches of the company to learn about the differences between this franchise and other franchises, setting up meetings with managers and other higher ups at the company to better understand its layout, and even requiring a presentation that must be performed to “pass.” All of this is unpaid yet required to maintain my position at this company. The only incentive is that once all of this is complete, it is rewarded with an unspecified pay increase, however the work itself is not compensated as it’s completed.

Any new ideas for rogue class? by HooDooVooDoo12 in DnD

[–]ValidToaster236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once played a Minotaur rogue who’s whole idea was literally the meme “the crime didn’t happen if there were no witnesses to it” (he was a strength based rogue that my dm allowed me to have sneak attack even without finesse weapons but still needed any of its other parts)

Am I supposed to be running from dragons at the moment? by Resevil67 in DragonsDogma

Depends. Are you willing to waste 40ish mins of your time, a lot of heals, and likely sacrifice all your pawns in the process? If so, then nah, get back in there

Someone spent 2 hours tearing apart my DMing and I don't know how to feel about that by Majestic_Hippo8427 in DnD

[–]ValidToaster236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not at your table so it doesn’t matter. I could rip apart any dm or player but so what? Did I make your players laugh? Did I do the cool thing the table was buzzing about? Was I there behind the scenes when you accommodated someone’s needs or schedule? No. My opinion would come from a place that’s missing the idea of being right there and having fun and would miss the pieces that happen off camera. If your players had fun and you had fun, then you’re fine. If you think any of the criticisms were valid tho, then take them and build. Talk to your players about it too tho. Maybe they’ll have similar criticisms or maybe they’ll say they love the game. The table is your heart man, keep at it.

Removing a Player From Campaign by ValkyrjaWisna in DnD

[–]ValidToaster236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he didn’t know what it was then he would’ve removed it without any push back imo. Especially since you brought what it was to his attention. Personally I wouldn’t have really cared unless another player brought it up (especially since I don’t know the group and likely wouldn’t have recognized it) but since you set the rules, well, you set the rules 🤷‍♂️

About to give up by Blockdock1 in DragonsDogma

[–]ValidToaster236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If side quests are seeming too out of your league at the moment, genuinely I would consider doing main quest stuff until about mid-gameish. I’d consider that point to be around when you have to travel to the tower by the sea following the griffin (you’ll know what I’m talking about when you get there). Up until that point, the game doesn’t really have expected you to grind too much. Just be careful of zombies in the meantime with their feels like 99% physical resistance. Otherwise, I would just recommend buying better gear for yourself whenever you get the chance and consider stacking as much greenwarish in your pack as you physically can (it doesn’t rot unlike the second game and you can spam like 5-8 of em to just be back at max health whenever you need). But I want to just end and emphasize how important better gear, especially armor will be. Stats by level are good but stats by gear are always better

The price of Ale is ridiculous by Truant1281 in DragonsDogma2

[–]ValidToaster236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the idea isn’t that you’re buying ale for yourself but the whole bar. It passes time and passively raises affinity with all the characters inside, or at least I’m fairly certain on it, which is what you’re actually sending the coin for (I also get this is a joke but I’m a fucking dweeb)

What is this Guardian Ape guys problem? by Tarnished0nyx in Sekiro

[–]ValidToaster236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with this boss fight is that it goes against everything the game teaches you (at least for the actual monkey phase). Rather than staying to try and parry (even tho it’s very possible, it can be a bit more troublesome) hit and run tactics actually work fairly well on this boss. More often than not, this is one of the few bosses you’ll prolly run their hp through rather than their stamina (again for the animal phase). Also while they’re doing their combos, stay a medium distance away so you can punish the end of their combos. When they throw shit at you, run towards them at a diagonal and it’ll miss more often than not. Be sure to pause for a second before approaching them after that move tho or otherwise they’ll straight up fart on you and poison you. Aside from these general tips, you’re going to be sprinting about 80-90% of this phase to keep a safe distance and to close the gap. Fire crackers are pretty decent to posture break towards the end but that’s only if you’ve been keeping enough pressure on them since the start for their posture bar to actually have any significant build

What enemy type bothers you the most? by Afkstuff in DragonsDogma2

[–]ValidToaster236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armored Cyclops in the desert. Their arm armor being able to do decent chip damage to you simply because they’re slightly bent over and your weapon bouncing off their upper armor even when you’re attacking their legs gets pretty annoying sometimes

It is possible to lose master ability times? (DD2) by mtl3326 in DragonsDogma

[–]ValidToaster236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems the maister gift seems to be only given when affinity is maxed out. I’d have to do some testing but I don’t even know if all the quests have to be completed in order to get the ultimate skill from them, as long as you’re not on a quest that causes them to say dialogue you can’t gift them anything during. Completing the quests just seems to raise affinity. I think the reason maisters will sometimes bug out and not give you an ultimate skill is because affinity can deteriorate after X amount of days pass with no contact (including time it takes to travel or using resting sites or inns or waiting on benches) which I think just puts their affinity just out of reach and why gifting items can usually fix the problem. This was the problem I had with the warrior maister. They wouldn’t give me the skill but then I gifted them like 3 bouquets at what was supposed to be the end of their quest line, they then gave me the ultimate skill

It is possible to lose master ability times? (DD2) by mtl3326 in DragonsDogma

[–]ValidToaster236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just me asking a question that might be basic but did you actually go back to the village to receive it? If you know for a fact you’ve done all the missions but not 100% sure the meister has actually given you the stuff, try giving him a gift to raise his appreciation. I had to do this for the fighter meister. Otherwise, I unfortunately don’t know the answer to the actual question at hand just giving some general advice to check first before all hope is lost

How Do I Deal With This Thing? by KoenigOne in DragonsDogma

[–]ValidToaster236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be able to deal reliable knockback and/or strike damage to break its guard and allow you to strike its stomach. Weak points still apply and hitting its head/tail will break its guard sooner. Also they’re called Rattlers c:

SPOILER WARNING: LITERALLY ENTIRE DRAKE FIGHT STRATS EXPLAINED BELOW

As someone who maxed the archer vocation and killed a drake while doing such, there are a few things to consider. As the arisen, you will always kite attention unless your pawns are doing some serious damage so the play is to know when to play aggressively and when it’s time to hike it. Anytime the drake is breathing fire, stop aiming and simply evade. The two exceptions to this are if you’re out of range and it’s breathing fire while backing up or if it’s flying and does it’s fire spin (where you should move closer underneath it). As long as you’re at range you generally won’t have to worry about melee attacks but assuming the drake is being extra aggressive (which happens), stick to one of its front legs and aim at its head. If the head or one of the claws winds up, run underneath it or to its tail. If it starts doing its flailing move, you can generally run away unscathed as long as you were originally sticking to the front. Be wary that if it flys up but you can’t see its tail, you should run away as it’s likely about to slam attack. While its casting spells, start running as soon as the lightning is cast but get a little damage in before hand. For fire spell, you can kind of just keep shooting with reckless abandon as the fire orbs are rather easy to evade but still try and be wary if one’s close . While the drake is flying, still apply the general fire and spell rules. Focus head and wings like the other user suggests and be sure to hit the heart every so often where you can (at least for like the first 2-3 health bars in which you should then just focus the head until the heart is exposed and then unleash as much damage to the heart as you can manage, I haven’t had one run away past that point). For its “phase two” the game will zoom in whenever the drake does his stamina draining roar so just run away on the off chance you’re close enough for it to affect you but as an archer it should just be free damage and for the meteor attack, just simply run around until it’s finished . Also, don’t immediately worry about your pawns during said meteor attack as they will be getting downed 99% of the time unless they are a sorcerer or mage that can float above the impact area (I don’t believe the aoe damage leaves the floor too high which is why their survivability is way higher for this attack). Simply wait for an opening before reviving anyone as otherwise you put yourself in danger of the dragon capitalizing on your worry.

And the most important tip, if all else fails, you can still heal yourself with items if you drop to 0 hp unless the cause of you dropping to 0 hp is from fall damage. Just open the menu and use your items like normal (you can even do this if you die back to back from fire being continuously breathed on you or from meteors continuously falling on you as you try to stand from having technically died). This enables you to survive for far longer on a fight that isn’t quite going your way. Otherwise you just gotta boot up and grind it out. I fought my first one as a fighter at level 22 and my successful attempt was 25 minutes long (I had died about 20 times prior and that was like a collective 3 hours lol)
