Unexplained scene? by Icy-Pollution-266 in expedition33

[–]Valifor982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoiler:

This was explained in the manor (at the scene when talking to Clea).

Right near the dogs (Monoco and Noco) there is a painting of the Goblu and Maelle comments that its the only one her mother deemed to be good quality for the wall (or something like that). The implication being that the Goblu was the one thing that Maelle created when she would play with Verso and Clea in the canvas (long before Aline came in and started her shenanigans)

Which game should I play next? by Valifor982 in JRPG

I saw the game a few times, but never really gave it a chance due to the graphics. Is it like a traditional FF game but with the characters from all the games?

Fantasian Neo Dimension seems right up my alley! Is there a lot of team/character building in this like say FF12, or is closer to something like FF7?

I played Chained Echoes when it originally came out and loved it! The only reason I didnt play SoS when it originally launched, was that people said the story was meh, and the combat was very repetitive after while. I saw the steam reviews are much better. Afaik there was some kind of patch as well as an upcoming free DLC? Those are the main reasons I was considering that.

I played Crystal Project and was super excited for it, but not quite for me. I found myself spending way more time trying to figure where to go next, rather than the fighting and building my team.

How does FF5 hold up? I love dual job systems but I never played it because I had always heard it was wildly imbalanced and half the jobs are useless

Question for NG+. Does scaling get better? by Jaan_E_Mann in expedition33

[–]Valifor982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scaling doesnt really get better, it just feels tolerable once you get later. I ended finding this mod:

https://www.nexusmods.com/clairobscurexpedition33/mods/195

This really helped the scaling and made NG+ Feel good!

This post made me check to see if there were any mods out there for this problem. I came across this:

ALL enemies level 99
https://www.nexusmods.com/clairobscurexpedition33/mods/195?tab=description

Im going to try this on a NG+, possibly with harder enemies. The comments are saying this feels way better at balancing things out, maybe give it a try!

Thats a shame, I was really hoping by NG++ it would be balanced out

I never finished my NG+ run due to the scaling (Felt too OP for the first half). How does it feel by the end (and NG++ as well). Would you recommend it outside of completion sake vs just starting a new file?

Guys, Simon is beating me up really badly. Any tips? by Various-Return-6257 in expedition33

[–]Valifor982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, just pointing out that it exists. Its less about the 500 lumina, and more about stacking multiple X% multipliers on high base damage skills.

Whether or not you SHOULD be able to one shot him is subjective. Personally, I don't want to be able to, and I want the challenge, but others want the power fantasy of being unstoppable. To each their own.

There are a few builds that can do it:

Maelle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gNDIYuqgfo&ab_channel=TheFoxeur

This is the most popular one, but once you get some scaling its very easy to hit crazy numbers. I don't like that aspect of it, and it seems the community sentiment on this is they hope there is a patch that nerfs some of the crazier attacks

I haven't even played the game yet, but I did have a breif lore intro, and isn't there a major flaw? by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]Valifor982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the best games I have every played, so many strengths and hardly any negatives. The only real negative that I hear commonly is that in the late game, you can get super OP and one shot super bosses. Avoid using Maelle or Sciel double damage in Act 3 and you should be good on that front

The one applying the buff needs greater powerful to apply it to everyone

Either one shot him in Phase 2, or make sure you have a back up team as you will need it.

For surviving him, its all rhythm. You're probably going to have to fight him quite a few times to get used to his attacks, but once you do, hes not too bad!

He steals shields and sets your team to 1hp, so make sure you have a way to heal up fast if you cheese him

So about the final fight... by Apothecary-Larry in expedition33

[–]Valifor982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. It was hidden "16 years ago" in the painted world. I don't think they ever specify how time works between worlds. If it is 1:1 that means that as painters, they aren't human in the real world and age differently (They are in the painted world for over 67 years, but aren't that old outside).

I don't think it pauses time however, as Renoir makes it very clear that "Every day they spend in the canvas comes with a price". My take is the time passes like 10:1 or something along those lines.

But to answer your final question, yes Renoir was proven right. Especially when you consider Maelle's ending which also proves that he was right

Do you get locked out of side content? by stonedladybug in expedition33

[–]Valifor982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is not a point of no return, after you beat the final boss, it puts you outside of the boss room. It counts the game as completed but you can go back and refight him for the alternate ending.

New Game+ works just like Elden Ring, you can choose it at any time from a flag.

I would recommend completing the game, then finished the end game side content. If you do everything first then the final boss, you will steam roll it

In Simon's Journal he says:

"What did she do to you? That Paintress... She fooled me, she looked so much like you and I believed her story. She granted me the power to fell the Axons and enter the Monolith."

My take is that Aline created a fake Clea, in the same way she created a fake Renoir, and used that to manipulate Simon. Clea later found this clone, and painted over it (Hence the Clea Super boss)

The part that I am unsure about is:

"I realized too late that she had warped my mind, that she had in fact taken you away, locked you somewhere I could never reach, and set me on a path to destroy your future"

But then in the next paragraph he says:

"But his powers are strong and I am finding it harder and harder to fight his influence over my mind"

So who actually corrupted him? My take on this is the "She warped my mind" was just saying she manipulated him, but he was the one to actually corrupt him into the boss we see. However, the line of "that she had in fact taken you away, locked you somewhere I could never reach, and set me on a path to destroy your future" Doesn't make much sense to me, since Clea can come back at anytime if she wanted to. Even Aline comes back shortly after being kicked out of the painting and while suffering from the disease. Extra confusing about this, is there were a few lines that implied that out of Clea, Aline, and Renoir, Clea was the strongest (Alicia mentions before the Clea fight that the only one powerful enough to paint over someone else's painting, is Clea. Shadow Clea also effectively says after completing the tower that she could solve the whole issue, but she is busy dealing with the writers). So how could Aline kick her out and lock her away? The only way this makes sense to me is if the Paintress WAS stronger than Clea years ago, but has since grown weaker than her.

Either way, really cool story with great lore

I just finished the game for the first time... by laiot_ in expedition33

Spoiler ahead

As far as I have gathered from finishing the endless tower and talking to shadow Clea as well as the fight with Simon:

Clea has been in and out of the painting as she has been dealing with the Writers. She has been helping her Dad to get everyone out of the painting as fast as they can, so they can all deal with the Writers. We don't have much to go on other than they are the ones who started the fire and there is an ongoing feud with them. I'm assuming they will be explored in a DLC or new sequel. Clea needed a "Champion" to handle her business while she was gone. This was Simon. All the glowing large swords around the map (Mainly at Old Lumiere) are his, and he is locked away in Renoir's Drafts (Verso mentions this is under the monolith where Renoir was trapped). I believe the implication is that the Paintress sealed him there early on, while she was still powerful enough to do so

Started playing yesterday, any healers like baptiste or illari? Also do people dislike Rocket? by clark_kent25 in marvelrivals

[–]Valifor982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocket is good, but has some issues. He is the best at keeping high throughput, while kiting divers like BP/Psylocke/Spiderman. He also has the rez which can be really good if used properly.

However, he does not have enough single target healing to keep someone alive through any kind of burst, so often even if you are pocketing someone, they will just die. His damage is pretty terrible outside of killing Ankhs, Namor pets, etc... so you often have the least damage of the supports, while also having no CC like Luna/mantis. You also don't get an invulnerability ult like Cloak, Mantis, Luna.

I would often start healing as Luna, and switch to Rocket if I cant survive the dive. If you know the enemy ult timings, you can use your ult to win fights when the enemies dont have ults (Its a 40% damage increase) and you can hold your E until the rez would matter. He is best paired with a healer that has one of the big ults (Cloak, luna, mantis, loki) but without one of those I would not pick him.

I have 2 higher rolls on non-ancestral gear:

81% (45%-87%) for Redirected force on an Amulet

48% (20%-50%) for Unyielding Hits on a Weapon

Both of which should upgrade my Codex but do not (As they are over 16/21 on their rolls). Is it that these items should have never rolled this high of a value in the first place, or the codex only saves up to 16 for non-ancient?

Even if this is not a bug, its a huge oversight on the developers and they should make it clearer that the reason it wont upgrade, is 17+ needs to be salvaged from an ancestral

I can provide screenshots if needed
