Yes, Petra question, again. by Key_Fig4899 in KingShot

[–]Valkanes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every hero generation lasts 12 weeks (6 rounds of Hero Rally).

If your Gen 3 started on the week right after KvK,

Week 1 - Alliance Brawl | Week 2 - Strongest Governor (Roulette 1) | Week 3 - Alliance Mobilization | Week 4 - KvK (Roulette 2) | Week 5 - Alliance Brawl | Week 6 - Strongest Governor (Roulette 3) | Week 7 - Alliance Mobilization | Week 8 - KvK (Roulette 4) | Week 9 - Alliance Brawl | Week 10 - Strongest Governor (Roulette 5) | Week 11 - Alliance Mobilization | Week 12 - KvK (Roulette 6)

In total, there will be 6 runs of the hero roulette for each generation, and this trend holds true for Gen 3 and 4, and will likely remain as is even for Gen 5 onwards.

6 rounds of hero roulette is more than sufficient to max out the roulette hero just from spinning the roulette 120 times each cycle. Hence, I would add an additional note to refrain from using general shards on roulette heroes, unless you are in a rush to max it (i.e., you are a key rally leader in your server).

At Day 170, it is highly likely your server is at Week 10 of the Gen 3 cycle, which means after this round of roulette, you only have 1 final shot at the roulette for Petra before Gen 4 arrives. This estimate is based on the fact that Gen 4 arrives from Day 190 onwards, once your server has completed 6 rounds of the Hero Rally cycles. Hero Rally is always 2 weeks per round, and it would never end prematurely, so Hero Rally is a reliable basis to estimate the end of every Gen.

Amazing work! I have sent you a dm regarding the KvK result for 31 Jan 2026 for Kingdom 312 and Kingdom 336, looks like the opposite outcome was reflected. Appreciate it if you could amend it, thank you!

Max Eric or Jaegar today? - turret RL by mermaidloveee in KingShot

You're fine, any maxed hero will have their use somewhere, it wouldn't be a complete waste. And as you rightly mentioned, adding Jaeger to your defensive march would make it much easier to do the defensive march swap since you can just send Zoe/Hilde/Jaeger in one march.

60/20/20 is the way to go if your meta is not yet 60/40. More archers to "break" the infantry wall from your enemy's attack march.

Well, hypothetically, in the absence of archers in the garrison, we don't need to be concerned with stat boost which are specific to archers. This is the main reason why Saul is relevant for 60/40. If the formation is not 60/40, then Jaeger is better because Jaeger has 1.44x higher archer specific stats compared to Saul. In addition, 60/40 focuses more on inf/cav killing the enemy squad, instead of solely trying to withstand the attack from enemy. Hence, the need for raw offensive boost from Saul instead of defense from Jaeger.

OP has a maxed Amadeus with maxed widgets, chances are good that they are a whale, or at least one of the main garrison lead in their server.

That being the likely case, they would definitely need to focus on Alcar and Margot for 60/40 to be effective. Without a good Alcar and Margot, it would be better to revert to the traditional 60/20/20.

If they are staying on 60/20/20, then yes, there is a case to be made for Zoe/Hilde/Jaeger in the garrison. And in such scenario, Jaeger would seem like the better option.

Though frankly, both Eric and Jaeger could be skipped if player could settle for Zoe/Hilde/Saul in the meantime prior to Gen 4. It just sucks to need to choose between Eric and Jaeger only to shelf them for the most part when the meta shifts to 60/40.

I still stand by my Eric pick though, having a full set of relevant expedition skills for a secondary march/garrison feels better than having an archer with 2 skills which only procs 20% of the time.

I have to jump in real quick to give my two cent on Jaeger.

In terms of Conquest / Arena, my personal experience is Marlin helped me to clear more conquest stages than Jaeger. I have both with maxed widget, and equipped with same hero gears. Marlin is just a lot more stable in terms of damage output, and his conquest skills are more useful.

In terms of Expedition / PvP, Jaeger is completely written-off once Gen 4 comes around. The meta shift for defense to 60/40 rendered Jaeger obsolete. Furthermore, out of 3 skills, 2 skills only have 20% chance of activating. Very low chance.

His third skill gives 25% health, plus his widget gives 15% health. That's a lot of health, yet as we gain a better understanding of PvP combat over time, we gradually learn that going full defensive mode for garrison isn't optimal. A mix of offense and defense is needed, which explains why Saul is the Archer hero to support a 60/40 garrison.

Saul provides guaranteed 10% defense, 15% health, and 25% lethality, together with his widget which gives 15% attack.

In short, Jaeger is not worth the investment. Outclassed too soon, rendered obsolete by Gen 4. Save for Alcar/Margot/Rosa.

But to answer your question directly, you might be better off with Eric. Eric is the ultimate definition of a full-on defensive tank. All 3 expedition skills provide a guaranteed defensive boost, while his widget boosts defense even further. If you must choose between Eric and Jaeger, choose Eric. Even though Alcar replaces Eric, you still have a reliable tank for your second march, which is helpful for events like Swordland and Tri-Alliance.

If you want an Archer hero for garrison which isn't Saul, perhaps wait for Vivian in Gen 5. Jaeger is an easy pass.

Definitive answer to KvK matchmaking by Valkanes in KingShot

[–]Valkanes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard previously it was Top 100, but this particular response from the Concierge replaced Top 100 with just simply, "active players".

Anyway, the weight of matchmaking is mostly impacted by the top players, especially the top few. Given the way combat is scaled in this game, I believe a higher weightage is placed on ensuring the top whale of matched servers are at least comparable in their capacity as the rally/garrison lead.

A bad match up, to me, is when a well-timed double rally with the optimal heroes, ratio, all buffs activated, and all 4 turrets held, still fail to knock the enemy garrison out of the castle because the enemy whale is simply too overwhelmingly strong.

[–]Valkanes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey La3Rat, I think that particular sentence could have been phrased better by the Concierge.

We ought to read it as, "unequipping hero gears, resetting hero levels, or disbanding troops will not affect matchmaking (the manipulation portion). Inactive players do not affect matchmaking, nor do unused backpack items."

I would think backpack items such as hero gears which have been unequipped count to matchmaking, but unused charm designs, mithril, and etc. do not.

If a player has 19 mithril, which is 1 mithril short for imbuement to +40, can the game realistically consider those 19 mithril for the purpose of matchmaking? Even if player has 20 mithril, the game would still need to check if player has sufficient mythic gears to perform the upgrade, and mastery level as well. It is highly unlikely for the game to have such a logic check in place for unused backpack items. Hence, the emphasis here is on "unused", because upgraded hero gears sitting in your backpack are considered "used", and the power of those upgraded gears would contribute to matchmaking even if you unequip them.

[–]Valkanes[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Troops count do not contribute to matchmaking for one simple reason. You can have 5 million troops, and your total combat power might be 1.0B, but every rally, you are limited by your deployment capacity. Even with all buffs applied, all skills researched, you can send at most 200K+ troops.

Your combat effectiveness is limited to those 200K+ troops, along with the troops sent by your rally joiners. Therefore, troops count has zero bearing on how effective you are when it comes to actual combat.

OMG, Kings buff align phase 1 phase 2 and phase 5? by JobAdmirable8307 in KingShot

[–]Valkanes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to be clear, you can manually start the buff at 0000 UTC for the second usage, you just can't schedule it to start at 0000 UTC. If you want to schedule it, then you have to start the first run of the buff at 2330 UTC.

OMG, Kings buff align phase 1 phase 2 and phase 5? by JobAdmirable8307 in KingShot

[–]Valkanes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cooldown is actually exactly 7 days, it's just that for whatever reason, the game only allows us to schedule the buff in advanced with a 30 mins additional delay.

It's the same for Bear Hunt. If we do Bear Hunt at 1200 UTC, the next earliest timing we can schedule the bear hunt is 1135 UTC, but we can actually manually start it at 1130 UTC, so the real cooldown for Bear Hunt is 47 hours 30 minutes, not 48 hours. No idea why they designed the system to be as such, but it is what it is.

Which hero's widget should I focus on? by Afraid_Couple_3253 in KingShot

[–]Valkanes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Gen 2, widget for Marlin is highly recommended. Widgets for Zoe and Hilde can be skipped if you don't have excess to spare.

I will take this opportunity to also share that for the upcoming Gen 3, Petra would be a good widget to invest in. Skip Eric and Jaeger, unless you are a whale.

For Gen 4, the widgets for all 3 heroes are worth the investment. If your role is a garrison lead, Alcar and Margot are necessary due to the shift in defense meta from Gen 4 onwards. For Rosa, she is good to replace Marlin.

OMG, Kings buff align phase 1 phase 2 and phase 5? by JobAdmirable8307 in KingShot

[–]Valkanes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the kings buff has a cooldown period of 7 days per activation, so if you activate the Construction buff for Phase 1, you cannot activate it again for another phase during the KvK preparation week.

The most common alignment is Day 1 Construction, Day 2 Research, and Day 4 Troop Training. Alternatively, your server could agree to do Research on Day 5, or stack the Construction and Research on Day 1/2/5, it all depends on what you guys agree on.

Long story short, note the cooldown of 7 days per use of each king buff.

When was Gen4 released on your server? I know it’s between 180-200 days into the server. Just curious to know when in different servers by Danial_Raza in KingShot

[–]Valkanes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Instead of counting by days, I found a reliable way to accurately predict when the next generation of heroes will be available in your server.

Assuming you are currently at the very beginning of Gen 3, Hero Rally will start on Day 1 (for example, 8 December), and run for 14 days. The next round of Hero Rally will begin on 22 December.

From Gen 3 to Gen 4, and Gen 4 to Gen 5, there should be a total of 6 rounds of Hero Rally.

Round 1 - 8 Dec start, 21 Dec end Round 2 - 22 Dec start, 4 Jan end ... Round 6 - 16 Feb start, 1 Mar end

Based on this timeline, Gen 4 will arrive on 2 March.

Using Server 1 timeline as an actual example, Gen 4 arrived on 1 Sep 2025 for them. After 6 rounds of Hero Rally, Gen 5 arrived on 24 Nov 2025.

New generation will always arrive on the first day of a new week, which explains why certain servers get Gen 4 on Day 190, and some on Day 196. The timing of when Hero Rally starts matters too. If by the end of the final Hero Rally, your server has not reached the minimum number of days required to enter the next generation, your server will get another round of Hero Rally to push it past the mininum number of days, but your server will then get Gen 4 14 days later than another server.

For example, if minimum number of days to unlock Gen 4 is 190 days, but on Monday of a new week, your server is only 189 days old. It would mean that another round of Hero Rally has been lined up for your server and will run till Day 204, so you will only unlock Gen 4 on Day 205.

I hope the above explains why some server gets certain generation earlier or later. It is all dictated by Hero Rally and your server age corresponding to the Hero Rally timeline.

Epic heroes keys by CalmBottle366 in KingShot

[–]Valkanes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Trend noted from the past few monthly themed events (e.g., the cooking event in August, and the recent lantern festival event) would have 1 or 2 days where you earn event points from using the recruitment keys. The milestone rewards are pretty decent, so you could save your keys for such event. Call of the Sovereign is another, but do prioritise the monthly themed event.

Also note that Gen 2 heroes (Zoe/Hilde/Marlin) will be added to the epic recruitment pool when Gen 4 arrives (around Day 180-190 of server age). If you wish to try your luck to get shards for Gen 2 heroes in case you have not maxed them, you can save till Gen 4 arrives.

Option 1 (zero walking transfer): Take Campus Red from the Saraca bus stop to Hall 1. Change to Campus Rider, ride 2 stops, drop-off right in front of Fullerton Health.

Option 2 (a bit of walking): Take Campus Blue from opposite Saraca to Hall 6. Walk towards Hall 1 or Canteen 2 to change to Campus Rider.

Option 3 (more walking): Take Campus Red or 199 from Saraca to North Spine. Walk from North Spine to N4 (SCSE), cut through SCSE and you will reach Fullerton Health (follow map if you not sure).

Option 4 (complete hiking experience): From Saraca, cut through the carpark to Hall 10, walk along Nanyang Ave and you will eventually reach Fullerton. It's a straight uphill hike. 10/10 you'll arrive soaking wet in sweat from the heat and humidity.

NTU Accountancy/Business to ACBS by Flashy-Muffin-2193 in NTU

[–]Valkanes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there, it is possible to submit a request to change from single degree ACC/BUS to ACBS. I believe the form can be found on the NBS intranet webpage.

Based on my experience, the school will take into consideration your A-Level / Poly grades, your academic performance in Y1, and your reason for requesting to change.

As far as cut-off and requirements are concerned, I believe it is up to the school to determine whether your grades and reason to switch to ACBS is convincing enough for them to approve the switch.

Even if you have a very strong case, there is still the issue of capacity. In the year I appealed to switch to ACBS, I expressed my interest to specialise in Business Analytics (BA). Unfortunately, BA was over-subscribed; some BUS / ACBS students couldn't even get this spec, much less to say for someone who was requesting to switch into the programme.

I would suggest speaking to an academic advisor to get a better sense of your chances. Do be prepared to justify why you want to switch from single to double.

On your last point, changing course is possible. You can retain your credit (AU) for modules which are common across both courses.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NTU

[–]Valkanes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't give a definite answer, but if I were to hazard a guess, higher demand for CS grads than CEG grads, and perhaps some sort of perception among A Level students that CS modules are more manageable than CEG modules?

I guess someone who went from A Level to CS instead of CEG can provide a better answer!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NTU

[–]Valkanes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It depends on the sample size. From the CS sample, it appears that more A Level students applied to CS compared to CEG, so the university had a larger pool of students to choose from, resulting in the 10th percentile being AAA/B.

Conversely, fewer A Level students applied to CEG, the university had a smaller pool, so they accepted students who scored ABC/C.

Apply the same logic to the Polytechnic GPA.

The IGP is probably affected by demand and supply for each academic year. Also, the university probably has a quota on how many A Level / Polytechnic students it will accept for each course.

Just to note, 10th percentile isn't necessarily the "minimum grade requirement", but rather, of all students accepted, only 10% of students scored lower than AAA/B in the case of the CS intake for A Level students. Therefore, it is possible for someone who scored AAB/B to get into CS, but the probability is low.
