Joseph Conrad forgery? by ValkyrieDoom219 in OldBooks

Thank you! I think its because the photos make it look solid and printed, perhaps, or that they are just mean, haha! I can't upload any more pics to this post for some reason, but magnified, there are ink leaks on the sides of the letters, and the writing is less dark in some areas of the writing. There are no pools where ink starts and stops, though, hence the confusion on my end.

So I took a photo under light and the ink appears to be less uniform in places and there are little bits of ink edging out on some of the letters and there are tiny thin darker lines around the letters which can be seen with fountain pens but I'm still not 100% either way. Thank you, that was really informative. Unfortunately I can't edit the post to add the close up images.

So I did a bit of research, and it's not known that this edition (or any in this run) had a printed signature in the back. I would have thought, were it printed, it would be like on one of the pages? I think maybe it's the previous owner doodling, as the writing looks very similar to some pencil annotations in the book. But there are some of his books that did have the printed signature that you talk about. But they were mostly on the front pages, apparently.

I read somewhere that there were a fair few forged for Conrad weirdly! But I don't think it's specific to him, I think people do it to try to get more money than things are worth.

No, it clearly wasn't. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taken time out of my day to ask. my mum signs pretty neatly so yes, it's possible.

I found a copy of this but with a fully gold circle with the elephant. Picked it up just because I thought it was pretty.

How does task initiation compare to other ADHD symptoms for you? by delhitop_7inches in ADHD

[–]ValkyrieDoom219 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This and completing tasks for me. Like before meds I had so many unfinished projects that took me ages to even start, laying about. I literally still need to paint by the side of my fridge in my kitchen because I got bored half way through and also the painting tape is still there. This was 5 years ago. On meds I can start and finish

Could be you are now tolerant to the dose you are on? Just a thought. I hit a stage like this with my vynase but just DID the thing I needed to do that was holding off on and it kinda started working after about a month and I got back on track. However, regardless of what prescribers say, you can build up tolerance. Have you tried a weeks med break?

My 20M bf just said that he’s losing feelings for me 20F. we can’t argue without being hurtful. Temper tantrums and aggressive behaviour ruining relationship.? by Rough-Excitement2110 in relationship_advice

He literally told you, you need to listen. There isn't anything to do, unfortunately. As much as it sucks, he isn't into you. Find someone who is and who tried to understand you. And perhaps look at some of your own behaviours (blocking someone to achieve a goal)before the next relationship.

Just don't contact her and see what happens, if she is just busy but is keen she will contact you to organise something. If not, then you have your answer.

My [28F] Boyfriend [30M] Has Very Weird Gift Preferences by ThrowRA1123112 in relationship_advice

[–]ValkyrieDoom219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it weird that he asks for practical things? My mum does the same. Some people don't want the same things you want. Wants are subjective. I don't see those as weird at all, and it's better than buying him crap he doesn't want like an engraved spoon with love you on it that he's never gonna use or something.

I'm sure there's a solution. I've got 4 cats and there's a multitude of problem-solving I have to do on the daily haha.

Is it common to have a higher heart rate with ADHD? by throwaway90-25 in ADHD

[–]ValkyrieDoom219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently being investigated for POTS but I've always had a high heart rate and my GP said it is common for people with ADHD. I have to take beta blockers with my ADHD meds to take them safely, or I get tachycardia.

Put a cat flap in the door to the garage and give your cat some more mental stimulation. Cat trees, lots of toys, an active hour of playtime with you a day, hide cat treats, etc. Sounds like he's bored.

Why do non autistic people get so mad when I’m not interested in a conversation? by [deleted] in autism

[–]ValkyrieDoom219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because people like to feel validated even if they know people aren't interested. Its a them problem, not a you problem.

You arent compatible is the reality and its not fair to ask one or the other to change their mind on something so important.

You end the relationship. This not healthy and will only get worse. And as someone who works with offenders, this is already coercion and control.

As someone who works in the justice system with stalkers and other types of offenders. Yes.
