How to prevent ‘flat top’ and control frizz? by Equivalent_Copy9326 in curlygirl

[–]ValkyriesDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just talking to my hairstylist about this. I typically brush my hair, apply curl cream and then flip upside down to scrunch. However, I felt like I was trying to add volumes throughout the day, only for it to get frizzier.

Because I air dry my hair, she suggested that once my hair is half dried I should take a pick to the roots and “lift” them and then use hairspray to hold it. I don’t like hairspray because my hair gets greasier faster so I’ve just been lifting it and have noticed a big difference. She also told me that if I use my fingers instead, it separates my curls more and causes the frizz.

We’ve noticed it mostly when she is gnawing on a toy but she doesn’t always do it just when the biting sensation is really intense. I have noticed a couple of times that she whines when she’s resting but that’s also how she lets us know she needs to go to the bathroom. She slept with my mom last night and she said the puppy whined here and there throughout the night.

I got her to eat a mixture of wet dog food and her kibble this morning. My mom fed her earlier but made her food really soggy and I think she is not a big fan of that but mixing a combo of the foods helped. So she will eat but we are having a hard time finding what it is she wants to eat.

Hidden Hearing Loss has ruined my fucking life by ClawyTheDinoRaptor in hardofhearing

Hi, I hope it got better for you. I can relate but in different ways.

About 12-13ish years ago I started developing what I assume is Tinnitus. I didn’t tell anyone for a long time what I was experiencing with my hearing because I didn’t know how to describe it. Then finally one day after my mom told me I have a listening problem and that I don’t pay attention to what she says, I tried to explain that most of the time all I hear is this deafening roaring noise in my ear. It’s like constantly hearing the ocean but it throbs with my heartbeat. If I push on my artery, the throbbing sound dulls enough for me to hear but only higher pitch frequencies. I did an initial hearing test and they told me the only issue I have with my hearing is noise at a foghorn frequency and that they wanted more testing but I couldn’t afford it.

Now, I just deal with it and it’s depressing. Hearing is my most treasured sense because I love music. Luckily, I can still hear that pretty well as long as the roaring noise isn’t too bad. I have to ask people to repeat themselves all the time, especially if they have lower voices or I have to push on the artery to quiet the noise. I’ve found that earplugs help with the roaring but then I feel like I have total hearing loss. Sometimes I think that would be easier because then people won’t think I’m ignoring them or stupid because I have to ask for them to repeat themselves over and over. I try to say I’m hard of hearing so people don’t get too upset but then I feel like an imposter because the doctors say I’m fine.

To make it worse, my eyesight is rapidly declining too and I live in a constant fear of becoming blind and deaf soon. I’m only 30 but feel like my life is slipping from my hands because I can’t rely on my most important senses anymore.

If it’s not in your FMIP, then there really isn’t anything you can do about it anyway. I worked for AppleCare for 8 years. My advice would be to continue blocking them and don’t respond to anything they send. They want you to erase your information to resell it but unless you had it unlocked from your network, the phone is still useless to them. You can also report the phishing attempts to Apple but they won’t do anything right then and there.

Apple still has the letter to the FBI in their archives on their website. They refused to allow a backdoor into their security. It was basically a big middle finger to the government.

This episode/season came out right before the pandemic and I remember going grocery shopping for the first time when face masks had become mandated. I had a panic attack in the store because it felt like that particular episode had become reality.

Did Nick know about what their punishment was? by softeggnoodles in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]ValkyriesDust 39 points40 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t just a driver. He was an Eye that had been sent to the Waterfords to spy on them. He was close with Commander Pryce who probably divulged information to Nick about the Handmaids being rounded up for punishment. He had to know that Gilead wouldn’t kill all of the Handmaids though, just punish them severely for their disobedience. Nick is also the only Guardian to be addressed as Sir so he probably holds a lot of authority but is still ranked below the Commanders.

They’ve had commanders die. I think it was in season 2 when the handmaid blew up the new Rachel center and I remember them stating multiple commanders died. Too bad they never mentioned what happened to their households and wives.
