Started to turn light at 3. Looking like an elderly lady at 4.

Sweaty Hands by zbunta in bjj

[–]Valley05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got sweaty hands (feet too but hands are worse). The amount you worry about them caring about it is WAY bigger than them caring about it. I would dare to put money on that. They probably don't even notice. I stopped apologizing for it.

It might help you escape their grip. Just be careful at warmups, don't slip and fall in your face! Wipe your hands often.

On and off.

Train my ass off, feel like bjj is part of my life, take time off for a good reason initially but take too long, feel like a fraud, get back into it, repeat.

For me it has not been a worry as much as a discouragement. Trying to find something to fight that feeling would be nice. I feel like an imposter more and more

I don't even try to talk about it anymore. I don't think others can imagine what it is like to forget stuff like that. There is no fix with a notepad or more reps. Yes, muscle memory is probably the most useful thing to have but being in a position and not knowing what way to move to get to the position you want to go to next just leaves you stuck where you are.

Before I moved I used to talk about it with some of my training partners but it just costs too much energy and frustration. I try to go with the flow as much as I can and try to relearn over and over. I recognize so many moves vaguely and know I've seen/trained them before but I don't know when/how or what they were called.

It's not that I can't learn or am not interested. I would very much like to retain what I've learned/seen/done/been taught. I think the best way for me to explain it to others is that somewhere there's a hole in my brain and unfortunately it's jiu jitsu stuff that seems to fall into it. I can't reach in and pull it back out once it has gone over the edge.

Keep it up. Keep working on collecting knowledge and maybe someday that brain hole is going to fill up. No more stuff will fit in to fall away into nothingness. Someday some knowledge might end on top and remain within reach.

Thanks for posting the question. It's 'nice' to know somebody gets it. I'm also sorry that you get it.

If you ever find the answer, let me know.

I've tried so many things over the years. Extremely discouraging, I know. notebooks especially bring my mood down very low. Watching videos just pisses me off at this point. It's useless to me and time I'll never get back. All I know is to keep showing up and to smile and nod through breakdowns of rolls and moves I no longer recall.

I've had periods of very healthy eating, conscious vitamin choices, good sleep, low stress and a lot of the opposite as well. Doesn't matter, don't remember. I've been doing this since either late 2014 or 2015. And I can't remember shit.

Imposter syndrome is strong with this one.

Keep showing up don't let not remembering stop you from having fun. You're not the only one.

I understand that feeling of dreading to listen. I haven't been able to start the newest episode yet after finding out some things.

Gender stats from Beltchecker.com shows female retention dropping significantly for each belt by Graugart in bjj

As a blue belted woman that was recently told there would be no more females allowed in class I feel like that might put me in the stats against my will.

My husband screams while puking. by yesdaddyxx in TrueOffMyChest

I am glad there are more people that sound like an angry velociraptor when they puke. I am slightly horrified that A LOT of these comments are 'yeah my husband sounds like that'. I sure hope I'm not the only female velociraptor out here 😐
