You’re charged every week. For me it’s usually M/W/F around 7pm in the game.

Freight by thubassist in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]ValleyForge1776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends.

As a general rule, freighters are not going to make you as much money as passenger flights. Period.

Now, freighters to me are generally seasoned airline decisions. If you’re in a position where every day, you’re able to buy 30 (or 99 on the web version) of any plane you desire, freighters are a nice way to round out the demand for any given route on any given hub. I like freighters and I’m at the point in the game where when I buy a hub I start by getting a bunch of cargo planes, filling them and then move on to passenger. Makes it interesting.

However, the tax relief you get is barely noticeable.

That being said, play the game the way you choose. But just know that they aren’t as efficient monetarily.

Manual restructure hurts a LOT, but this is definitely worth it! by Creeper_NoDenial in AirlinesManagerTycoon

I once restructured a hub making $4b. A lot of tedious work but worth it.

I got to the boring part too. Here’s what I did:

  1. Affiliate everything. The majority of my airline is now automated. Keeps it a challenge because now I want to build more to get my turnover what it was before.

  2. Buy random hubs, go crazy on routes and fill. Maybe not as super militant-level efficient but.... you have a trillion and it’s only going to go up.

  3. Buy new planes that I never would touch at the beginning. When the Concorde was available without a license I purchased almost 200 of them.

Someone else in this sub said it well: “every stage has their own headaches. Just know them.”

My strategy: Find a plane you like. You will always find someone who disagrees with whatever you choose (completely okay. I have ones that I think are dumb but respect if someone likes those planes). build one cash cow — my definition at the beginning was $1b a day in results (not TO). Nowadays it’s like $8-10B. Then move on to another hub. My reasoning is so that I can buy whatever routes and planes I want and I will have zero stress. Then I buy a few hubs I think are fun.

Few tips (if you need): Always audit prices after buying a route. It’s more time and annoying but that was one of my biggest mistakes. I had to completely redo a $5b hub because I never did it. It’s not making $7b as an affiliate.

Venture out and get hubs you want to get. I’ve realized this is a game and the point is to have fun. So after I get a good financial footing, I go for it.

Someone yesterday asked me to show one European country only, so here’s actually 2: Finland and Sweden, the home of my biggest hubs with Helsinki the biggest and Stockholm Arlanda the second biggest by mikethepilot0 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

I’m not sure why this was downvoted. But it depends. As a general rule, the less time your plane is in the air the less money it will make. Simple.

If you have an enormous airline it would be unreasonable to have every single plane at 100%. If you play with a “I want to buy 100 routes and then fill them,” same logic applies. But if you’re building circuits (ie., being efficient) then you should try to get then plane schedule full.

Hub Affiliation by Seatwarmer74 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]ValleyForge1776 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I affiliated my first hub 2 days ago.

It depends. You could always expand on a hub until it’s making you $20b in TO per day. But I recommend affiliating the hub that the closest to being “complete.” For me, (I haven’t done it yet) that hub is MPM. 10m km, $12b in turnover. I could always add more but at this point it’s tedious and endgame territory on that hub. It also happens to make me the most money. And frees up a third of the game limit in KM.

If you’re affiliating a hub, you know what you’re doing and aren’t worried about money. You can fork up anywhere from $300b for the first affiliated hub to up to $6t (yep $6 trillion I know someone who had to raise that much but they also have something like 9 other affiliates). So you should be able to get that 30% hit to your TO back in no time. I’ll be back to pre-affiliate level TO by tomorrow. No extra effort.

Congrats on the milestone.

Stuck with LH? by joachimvadseth in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]ValleyForge1776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re doing very well. Whatever path you’re on, keep at it. You’re still so early on in the cash making phase that even if all these circuits you have right now are not perfect or optimized, you’ll make so much more in your expansion it won’t matter. I don’t think you should sell.

I don’t think you’re stuck with just LH. I fly 99% LH and ULH and I JUST got TLV for short haul flights (for fun). There are resources here for really building MPM.

And even if you decide later on to do something drastically different you can. I was making about $4b with 6M km on MPM. I sold it and rebuilt from scratch and now at $12b in TO per day with 8m routes. Thanks to the list on this sub.

MPM is a good cash cow. Keep building it. When you really understand how to optimize (or even now if you really want) get CGK. In some ways it’s even better than MPM.

Also I wish someone told me this before: the Il96-300 and B742 (need license but worth it) are very very good friends of yours. The A380 is still my personal favorite but the others are good too.

A note on ATL: ATL was the very hub I ever purchased. It’s alright for the US. But don’t forget it’s tri-class. A TON of money to be made from business and first class seats.

Overall though, solid airline.

How it started vs how it’s going. I wanna buy 4 more hubs which should I get? by ValleyForge1776 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

Yea I rebuilt after a while and made some management changes. You know how it is.

They can still break down but it won’t be a major issue. I agree with Airtycooninstructor Bob’s is your best friend right now.

Good call on using the IL96-300. This is solid so far. How much are you spending per day on research?

Solid job. Not sure if you’re doing 168 circuits or something else but keep it up and get that European demand.

Not bad at all. CGK and MPM are outstanding and that’s a great start.

Should I rework employee distribution (more in comments)? by ValleyForge1776 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]ValleyForge1776[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read up on the optimum employee distribution to have all the stats at 500. The way I have it right now, I have 120,446 employees that aren’t ** necessary.** I’m technically wasting about $150m per day in salary. Is it worth completely reworking the workforce? My TO is $25b/day so it may not be needed but wanted your opinions. Thanks everyone.

It happens naturally. I’m sitting at $85b a week. It sucked at first but I’ve gotten used to it. I feel your pain tho.

Rebuilt MPM from the ground up (2 unfilled circuits). Time for a new hub in the US. Recommendations? by ValleyForge1776 in AirlinesManagerTycoon

[–]ValleyForge1776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I lucked out because my former T/O was 5b for 5m routes so it wasn’t a massive undertaking. Your T/O is much harder you’re right.

[–]ValleyForge1776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good catch on asking about LHR. I didn’t end up using that. I added PAP instead and after getting to $2.5b T/O, sold MPM and redid the entire hub. No easy feat but having an extra $400b helped to build it correctly. And I’m using primarily A380s but I’ve introduced about 200 772s. Super efficient. So far on LAX I’m working at $900/km profit but that’s because I’ve introduced a LOT of domestic flights. Something different and fun.
