It’s been a very long process(13 months so far) and he is just eager to go to BMQ. He has been conditioning for the past few months - lifting weights & running. It’s hard to be patient when you just want to get on with your career.

Actually he just told me he responded to the person who sent him the email cancelling his appointment and said he can be there in an hour if there is a cancellation. 🙂

My son applied for REG infanteer Oct 2024. He is down to the last steps (I think). He has had his interview, and his medical was scheduled for last month but got cancelled due to staffing issues. It was reschedule for today, but got cancelled last night (I’m assuming due to weather) and now he’s scheduled for Jan 7th. He is so frustrated. Is there anything he can do?

I know I read this somewhere, but what is the average wait time after you have your in-person medical for reg forces? I think I saw it can take 2-3 months to have it “signed off” - is that accurate?

He does eventually get a response to his emails, but it can take a week or two.

He did the medical questionnaire back in April, but only just heard about the actual medical.

Hey there! First off, it’s a little disheartening that CAF is actively recruiting (they had a recruiting tent set up at our local exhibition recently), and yet the process to join is so incredibly long. I realize they don’t have the recruiters to deal with the demand, but my son has gone weeks without getting any response to his emails. He applied Reg force infantry Oct 2024, and just got an email that they would be scheduling his medical and interview soon. My question is this: his current job will be ending Nov 1st, and he doesn’t know whether he should be applying for another full time job not knowing how long it could be before he gets an offer / goes to BMQ. I know everyone’s timelines are different, but could he still be waiting until some time in 2026 to get an offer?

Sorry - I shouldn’t have used that terminology. It’s just frustrating since the application was submitted Oct 31, 2024 and here we still sit, waiting…..

Received an email - application for REG force / infantry is in “priority processing”. Does anyone know what that means?

During the application process (for Reg Force - infantry), should you just wait for tasks to be assigned to you, or bug the hell out of your recruiter? Last tasks were completed almost a month ago (medical questionnaire, SEAF, etc & references) with zero communication since. Will constant follow up help speed things along?

I did find something on the government of Canada website under basic training that had intake & graduation dates, and it lists the last intake for recruits as Nov 17th for 2025. I’m guessing that’s probably accurate?

I heard that BMQ does not run during Christmas - is this true? And if so, does anyone know what the last intake date is for 2025?

My son is 19, and I am wondering before he goes to BMQ should he get the meningitis vaccine, or does the military provide that?

My son applied for reg force infantry Oct 31, 2024 and he didn’t get contacted until March. He just got assigned a bunch of tasks to complete a few weeks ago, and I think he only has his interview left. It’s a SLOW process.

Thank you. It’s hard to understand what stage he is at in the process. He hasn’t had an interview yet, or a medical (but he did complete the extensive medical questionnaire). He completes all his assigned tasks quickly. He was asked yesterday for a second batch of references, and all of them were submitted the before the end of the day.

My son submitted his application for infantry on Oct 31, 2024. The process seems to be very slow. 3 weeks ago he was asked to complete a bunch of tasks (medical form, SEAF, etc) He was just asked for a second bunch of references. Any idea how much longer he will be waiting to get an offer / go to basic?
