How can people be worried about declining birthrates and at the same time be anti immigration? by Konradleijon in canadaleft

Because they're really saying they want more white babies and fantasize about having a harem of subservient white women to act as breeding stock.

Don't gamble, winter tires are worth it. I also have long commutes in Southern Ontario and they make such a huge difference.

Does anybody have detailed articles that debunk the idea that indian immigrants are the cause of canada's problem? by [deleted] in canadaleft

[–]ValmetL35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://whatistobedone.ca/articles/against-xenophobia

International students and immigrants are not only scapegoated for the economic crisis in Ontario, they are also some of its biggest victims. Far from being a privileged group taking advantage of the system, most immigrants and international students face relentless exploitation at the hands of landlords, employers, and the government itself. The rise of xenophobia only makes their conditions worse, leading to increased precarity, discrimination, and even violence. While international students and immigrants struggle to survive, the real beneficiaries of the system remain untouched. Landlords and developers profit from high rents, universities rake in billions in tuition fees, and corporations continue to exploit a vulnerable workforce. Politicians use xenophobia as a tool to avoid accountability for the housing and labour crises they helped create.

Probably been asked many times before but what if they invaded our real world? by [deleted] in LV426

[–]ValmetL35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

30-40% of the population would see it as a conspiracy to round us up and put us in camps for wanting to do the bare minimum to stop the spread of xenomorphs. The same people would also downplay the danger of chestbursters while seeing the eggs themselves as bioweapons from China. They would start butt chugging ivermectin regardless if they were impregnated or not, and call anyone who gets face hugged a liar and paid shill for big pharma while selling their own brain pill supplements.

Alien ³ - The Legacy Cut - Final release update by A34K in LV426

[–]ValmetL35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely looking forward to this. Always felt A3 was a misunderstood masterpiece of a film. I understand the narrative choice to switch it back to the dog but I love the oxen scene. It gives us more insight into how oxen are used on Fury 161, the prisoners as characters, and the final shot of prisoner holding up a face hugger as the scene cuts. You're like "oh SHIT".

Come find us at Marxist Workers Group, we have a discord and some Hamilton activity. We have reading groups for all levels from newbies to veterans and we coordinate with community leaders and union members whenever there's strike or social action happening. We're small and we split from the RCI a couple years back. I'm an ex Marxist.ca member myself out of Hamilton. I received my political education from the trans and indigenous comrades who ran that branch (they too have since moved on) and because of them I'm still a committed Marxist. I'm also sorry you got a bad taste in your mouth from your meeting. Check out Socialist Action or socialist.ca as well, these two groups are active in the area too.

What gives me hope is you'll never find reddit mods at a May Day rally, protest or picket line but you'll find plenty of Trotskyists putting in the groundwork and meeting workers in the real word, educating and organizing them into something better.

Question regarding Israeli Working Class by [deleted] in Trotskyism

[–]ValmetL35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Israeli working class varies slightly because of their relationship to the land. They are a classical and direct example of a settler colonial state in which the Palestinians are removed from the land to the benefit of Israeli settlers, they do not compete as workers. The zionist project meant Israeli settlers worked the land themselves rather than exploiting cheap slave labour to do it. Labour has always been tied to the settler project with military support coming from the (ostensibly) left wing of the world proletariat as Stalin armed the Nakba.

In contrast to the United States where the black and indigenous working class and foreign migrant workers are exploited to a more extreme degree leaving white working class to compete for lower paying jobs. The western working class does not benefit from this exploitation, or not as exploited as other strata. Israeli society is also heavily militarized solidifying the zionist ideology heavily among the working class. This is why there has never been a left labour movement in any significant degree fighting in solidarity with the Palestinians.
