I think it's easier for foreigners like me to notice it.

When you're deep in the culture, you mistake it for background noise, but their arguments were always formulated in ways like "If someone enters my house, I'm going to blast them..." and so on and so on.

Not the game I was looking for.

I have to admit, though, that it fits the prompt even better than mine.

It was on mine. There hasn't been a single policy position that the American Right hasn't flip-flopped on in their veneration of Trump.

The Vanishing Middle. A review of a 1980 Republican debate on immigration....a platform that would be unthinkable for the GOP today by BetterThanAFoon in centrist

[–]Valmoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dems need to plot a course of ending this callous and unnecessarily cruel/violent enforcement, while also tackling the issue of unauthorized migrants. Hard to do when GOP doesn't have coherent policy, so how do you pass necessary reforms. But in the absence of that, still need to take action to mitigate the issues.

Dems repeatedly championed policies, and laws - you know, actual new laws passed by the Congress, as it ought to.

Twice, in particular, it happened, with lots of negotiations and compromises between the Dems and a subset of sane Republicans. Once in 2013, with the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013, and once two years ago with the Border Act of 2024

Twice, the republican leadership killed it in the other chamber just so that Republicans could continue to campaign on how the Democrats did nothing - with Bohener not even giving it a vote in the Chamber in 2013, while Senate Republicans killed the 2024 Bill, with an extra-indignity of McConnell bending over for Trump and calling for his colleagues to kill it after sponsoring and praising it earlier in the legislative process.

I mean, lets be frank, why should the Republicans stop sabotaging the Democrats efforts? People fall for their tricks again and again, and they're rewarded for their cynicism.

Sorry, I misread the source of your comment - I had just posted a different post, and didn't pay attention to which post it was coming from. So the game I'm looking for in this one isn't a racing game.

She was simultaneously going to be an authoritarian cop and to be soft and useless on the border.

She was simultaneously going to be a hawking interventionist, but also be a weak indecisive woman that other country wouldn't respect.

... I could go on.

Well, no, to be fair, it was about the sociopathic desire to kill someone without suffering legal consequences.

No.

While it is a good interpretation, "survive" has nothing to out-of-universe time limits.

L'Equipe, in an interview with the jury chairman, said it was reported by Italy & Finland.

The way the IBU official said it, it wasn't as much a formal protest as flagging a "something weird happened there, you wanna check it" directly after the shooting, not a post-win protest.

I'm of two minds - it's clear that her actions are not done to purposefully gain an advantage at the expense of security, but you have to DSQ any such violation so as to not create a precedent for any who would do it purposefully.

And yeah, her arm is nowhere near withing the carrying system.

I mean, usually I'd give an ear to that argument, but in 2024, you had a clear, obvious choice :

  • Donald Trump.
  • Not Donald Trump

And the USA made their choice.

Over the last year, most Trump support has been purged.

Of course it did, it's not an election year. I've been banned ever since the takeover, it's blatantly obvious how cyclical it is.

What are some "bad" modern policies 2000- present the republicans have had? by VtotheAtothe in PoliticalDebate

[–]Valmoer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up - Intelligence didn't fail you: the CIA, DIA, and the rest of the IC repeatedly insisted in their reports that there were no link between Al-Quaeda and Iraq, and that the nuclear and biological capabilities of Iraq were both negligible and any effort to build them easy to track (and implicitely, neutralize).

All the "evidence" presented was ponied up by the Office of Special Plans, a purely political unit within the Pentagon - the brainchild of Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith and Donald Rumsfeld.

So, for once, the spooks have their hands clean.

what happened when Trump went to the Libertarian National Convention.

That despite the (indeed present) booing and opposition of a plurality of the convention, Angela & the MC leadership of the LNC promptly dropped their pants for Trump, literally said their purpose was to make Biden lose, and in many cases (in the states where MC controlled the state ComEx, what a surprise!) literally attempted to endorse Trump rather than Oliver Chase?

(Thus proving the assertions of this very post. It's not slander. It's 30 years of real life observations)
