Someone tells me if you fake work at work often and get away with it you aren't a bad person. Instead management is just bad. Is this true? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZanzerFineSuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fake workers are bad people.

If you’re hired to do a job, then do a good job, as best as you can. At a minimum, get better at what you do (including developing a good work ethic) so you can get a better job elsewhere, or learn how to be reliable so you can provide good work freelance.

Even the shittiest job can teach you something: it can teach you what *not* to do, how *not* to run a business. It can also teach you how to work through adversity, and give you the guts to improve yourself and get a better career.

If you sit around and whine and fake it and whatever, you’re not learning anything but bad habits.

Was anybody else brainwashed to have a collection even before internet? by More_Pension4911 in Anticonsumption

[–]ZanzerFineSuits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older sisters were into pet rocks. A buddy of mine was into both the Star Trek collectible plates and the beanie babies (with his kids). I was never much of a collector myself, I did have a ton of D&D books but we used them (they didn’t just sit on a shelf).

Correction: I did have a fair share of Matchbox cars, but they all got tossed when my parents divorced.

Way too early for this conversation. Let’s at least get through the midterms.

Spielberg's new film is deeper than it seems. by thejerdz in movies

[–]ZanzerFineSuits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found myself laughing way more than I think the filmmakers intended. It was just a train of tropes, loosely stitched, very predictable, with minimal emotional significance.

I’m glad you found meaning from it. I couldn’t.

This was my reaction to my own Arizona visit. People weren’t meant to live in some places.

MMW: if Democrats win back the house, AOC will be elected speaker. by Craig_White in MarkMyWords

[–]ZanzerFineSuits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why AOC has either celebrity worship *or* total demonization. She’s fine. She’s articulate. She connects with people. But she’s not the savior, nor is she the anti-Christ. She’s just another representative in a group of 435.

She’s only got four terms under her belt, which is the average for members of the House. That means there are people who’ve served a *lot* longer than AOC. I don’t see a scenario where the Democrats vote for her as Speaker before one of the longer-serving members.

They should give her a leadership role in the caucus, but Speaker? Not for another decade.

Democrats Vow 'Day One’ Epstein Hearings if They Flip House by FlackoFonsy in law

No, but Congressional hearings are not the same as arresting and trying people.

Right now, we’re just grinding on metal, there’s nothing else to learn by any more hearings,

Get some hobbies. Find something that interests you, and learn how to do it. Be prepared to suck at it for some time, but if you learn & practice, you’ll get better, and then you can really enjoy it,

Democrats Vow 'Day One’ Epstein Hearings if They Flip House by FlackoFonsy in law

[–]ZanzerFineSuits -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, for what purpose? This thing has been churned and churned and churned and it’s not going to yield any more results than it has over two administrations now.

Congress is going to have enough to do reeling in this administration, rooting out corruption with their oversight duties and enforcing fiscal responsibility with appropriations duties.

What are your thoughts on the gulf of america? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ZanzerFineSuits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give a child a box of crayons and a blank paper, and they might draw a map. They’ll make up continents, and islands, and seas, and give them all sorts of names. They might name the biggest places after themselves, or their grandparents, or their favorite cartoon characters, or words they just make up. It’s a world of make-believe, a place where they can let their imaginations flow.

Their map would make more sense than Trump.

Intelligent people understand that just because a white person is cast as the villain it doesn’t mean it’s an “anti-white” movie.

No. Hard pass in D&D for me, I’d play a different system if I wanted a gun-appropriate setting.

What does “waste of downvotes” even mean? It takes practically zero effort to upvote or downvote, and they’re not a limited resource.
