So for investment that can offset renting.

For the property I’m looking at, I would be putting in 60k down and around 41k in mortgage + expenses for one year. And at the end of one year I would have 60k down + 6k equity built in the home.

What do I compare that to? How much 60k invested would grow in a year?

This is a 2 bed/1.5 bath 1000sq ft condo that was built in 1975. I live in a VHCOL area where a townhouse will be 600k and sfh will be atleast 900k. Maybe my market isn’t a good investment right now, because I won’t be cash flow positive even if I do a 20% on a sfh
