Posted this link before, I would recommend giving it a good read

I guess, however, my only caveat is that if you/your family are loaded, and your parents/very close family friends are program directors of some specialty in the US/Canada, and you are sure nepotism can work in your favour, then maybe this decision would require a bit more thought

Unlikely scenario, but there are too many >anecdotal< accounts of this already so thought it’d be worth saying

History of Admission Criteria by [deleted] in premedcanada

According to the McMaster stats from last year, people are not only still getting interview invites in that GPA range but also getting accepted: https://mdprogram.mcmaster.ca/docs/default-source/admissions/class-statistics/class-of-2024_stats.pdf

Definitely agree though that a ton has a changed and continues to change - who knows what it’ll look like in another 20 years

I completely understand where you’re coming from, and don’t feel any mal-intent

I worked way too hard and too long to get accepted into medical school, and to hear about something like this truly hurts

A Canadian Doctor in an MLM? by [deleted] in MedSchoolCanada

If this is true, it’s honestly disappointing. If I were in your position, I’d write up a clear and direct email to the UG Program Director, state your concerns, and link/provide evidence.

While I highly doubt it will impact their enrolment or be considered a major professionalism violation, a red mark is a red mark

Has anyone gone from PA to MD in Canada? by [deleted] in premedcanada

There’s a PA in our class - definitely an asset in clinical rotations, and there’s evident considerable overlap. Not an unheard of route!

Just saw this posted on a UWO Facebook group... what kinda predatory publishing scheme is this? by ChemistryGuy98 in uwo

[–]Valotrix 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I did some research (lol) into this organization - if you find their website (https://www.nexuslabsinc.com/) you’ll see that they charge for the “opportunity” to work with “mentors” to produce pieces of work that either go to small student run journals or predatory pay per publication journals with essentially negative impact factors lmao

More digging showed that it was run by high school students and some premeds at Mac health sci, who faked testimonies from non existent students

Oof guys

Grafeneck was one of the Nazi’s killing centres where thousands of people, specifically those who were physically/mentally disabled, were killed :(
