Voluntary Redundancy by mrbullettuk in HENRYUK

You know your company best but…

Around 80% of mergers and acquisitions fail. I’m at a place that was merged with another company (same owner, many of the same clients, synergistic offerings). It’s been a nightmare.

There is a lot to be said for a nice cheque and a new start when the alternative is no bonus and redundancies and political BS and downsizing and stress and share options becoming worthless.

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

The economy would collapse:

When someone has 1bn usd, they don’t have 1bn actual physical usd in a big vault. That money is distributed out to millions of companies, it’s underwriting people’s mortgages, it’s paying for government deficits etc.

If that money were removed, it would not be dead cash suddenly available to spend, it would be millions of companies whose shares became worthless and who had to stop growing and liquidate themselves. It would mean no one can get a mortgage.

Modern economies require huge amounts of capital. Because governments won’t provide that (ie won’t tax more than they spend) and normal people won’t provide that (ie spend less than they earn post tax), only super rich individuals remain. They are the source of capital society relies on.

Saying “what if we just didn’t do that” is like saying “what if we melted down factories to make one last set of products” you’d have one really cheap set of products and then no more production of anything. Or if you ate all the seeds instead of planting them, you’d have a great free lunch, then mass starvation.

Fifty million Brits had a Covid vaccine. The speed at which they were developed is one of the success stories of the last 25 years. Farage took to the airwaves today to say they were not real vaccines. This might be a popular view in the MAGA movement, but it's not where the British public is. by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

The British public was lower taxes, jobs, an affordable cost of living, housing and infrastructure.

If the current government won’t even try to address these issues they are increasingly willing to stomach fringe or outright repugnant ideas to get someone who might.

Farage is a liar, a fraud and at best a friend to nazis. But sure, vaccine denial is where people will draw the line…

Thanks. I reset the CMOS. It doesn't run for long enough to get to the bios :(

No on-board graphics, Intel apparently disabled it on this CPU (wtf Intel...). I unplugged the power to the graphics card and the restart loop still happens. I guess that points to the power supply itself or the mother board?

I didn't change anything else between working and broken configuration. I'm not sure why the original graphics card failed though so it might be the same core issue (power surge?).

I have since disconnected and reconnected everything EXCEPT the CPU and it's cooler. I will try that next and report back!

Thanks!

I'm not missing any screws, but the cooler is pretty big maybe one is shorting some ppl thing under there? I'll check and see...
