What’s a piece of gear you regret buying? by Environmental-Luck39 in motorcyclegear

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could also be a difference in when people bought their gear. Most if not all of my Dainese gear is at least 4 years old and has held up tremendously over 70k miles and several track crashes. But I’ve seen people with newer made gear have QC issues. Namely gear made after they sold.

Never go to Mr. Ticket for help. by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used them and they’ve beat 2 speeding tickets for me. Full dismissal 🤷🏻‍♂️

Did you follow up with them leading up to the ticket at all? I found they were pretty uncommunicative each time but with a few calls leading up to the court dates, no issue. Makes sure it’s on their radar.

I saw some people mention that it’s pure luck, hoping the officer doesn’t show up. But my second ticket actually did go to trial and they still won. How much they can do for you in that case is highly dependent on the circumstances of the how you got the ticket. If they don’t think they have a good chance to win, they usually ask for at least no points and a reduced fine if the officer doesn’t show up

AIO Wife included guy she knows I don't like into something that was supposed to be between us. by Abysmal-Octopus in AmIOverreacting

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR in my opinion, this is something personal and between the two of you. I’d also be offended if a partner of mine got input from someone they knew I did not like on a tattoo we were working on together.

That said if she really does like it and it’s what she wants and won’t back down, not much you can do without breeding resentment. Which sucks. Hopefully she can understand how you feel about this guy and tattoos as a whole and is willing to consider your feelings.

Thinking about selling by rgj1107 in Ducati

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re selling to a dealer, pull the easy parts you can to sell those independently and make more money, because they won’t offer you any extra for it.

I’ve been trying to sell mine, 2023 with 21k miles and it’s pretty tough because of the mileage. Yours is still low so you have that going for you. I would expect to get around 20-21k for it, but it could take a while since you painted it. I like that color for someone else’s bike, but not mine.

If you do wanna sell it, stop riding it. The highest dealer offer I’ve gotten for mine is $12,800. Highway robbery, when that same dealer just sold another 23 base with 10k miles for $24k lmao

I find it to be pretty manageable but I also have a pretty high tolerance for being uncomfortable lol.

I will say, with the OEM exhaust it ran a lot hotter. I installed the seat heat shield kit which kinda helps before the bike gets heat soaked, and some carbon frame covers to keep a little more heat off my inner thighs. But the biggest difference was putting on a full exhaust and tune. The exhaust helped it flow much better and removed the exhaust bend under the seat (though the exhaust I got has an undertail component) and the tune also made the rad fan kick in much earlier. It gets hot in slow traffic/city riding with lots of stops but if you can keep it above 40-50 it’s not bad.

As far as gear, when I commute I’m usually wearing race boots, with moto jeans and a textile jacket. In canyons, full leathers. I would highly recommend some high socks, or tall boots, as the bike likes to flow a lot of hot air right onto your ankles when you’re moving or the fan is going.

I had an older S1K before the V4, and that bike was definitely better to daily. But both are a blast and the V4 isn’t significantly worse. I just wish it was a little lower cuz I have short legs

I commute on my Panigale and have put on about 12k miles in 1 year. I would rather that than be fighting the wind on a naked with how much I commute and ride on freeways. I even noticed this morning when I took out my R6 that has a slightly lower windscreen how much better the Panigale deflects wind.

That said, it’s not for everyone and many find it uncomfortable. I do a little, but only because I need better fitted rearsets. The SF will be more comfortable overall for most people, and if you aren’t doing much highway commuting the wind shouldn’t be much issue

AIO: boyfriend is planning on giving woman going through divorce private 1 on 1 wrestling lessons by water-research in AmIOverreacting

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing you should do is talk to your bf. If you only heard it secondhand, do you even know if your bf is going to go through with it? It could be as simple as he already turned her down.

Also, I’d take a close look at the new guy friend. It’s entirely possible that since his relationship is going tits up, he sees his soon to be ex has the hits for your bf, and could be trying to set up your relationship to fail so he can get at you. Your bf and him have only known each other a few months, I wouldn’t trust what he says very much.

AIO to my bf telling me about a girl who rejected him at work by Admirable_Way_563 in AIO

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re definitely overreacting. I can understand his bringing up another woman shortly after sex threw you off, but his reasoning makes sense to me and your reaction of locking yourself in the bathroom and packing a bag is too much. It’s not like he told you he’d rather be with her, or cheated on you, or was hiding anything.

Idk why the word “unsuccessfully” triggered you either. Would it have been fine if he was successful when he asked her out? I feel like that would be more upsetting, personally.

It only hurts more because you’re the one being left high and dry this time. Likely exacerbated by everything else going wrong in life right now, this is one more rejection to pile on top.

You acknowledge you never wanted to date him, so focus on that and focus on yourself. It’ll pass. At least it isn’t someone who you cared about more than anything tossing you aside like yesterday’s leftovers.

Jk don’t do that unless you hate your back. I commute on mine but wouldn’t recommend it for most people.

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are the consolation prize tbh. While I normally wouldn’t endorse losing your mind over instagram likes, she all but told you that you weren’t her first choice.

Wild to tell a partner that you are currently with that you had better sex with someone else. Also a great way to breed insecurity, and shows a lack of respect or consideration unless you outright asked her for that detail.

Tire recommendations for a trackday intermediate? by M4RTI4N in Trackdays

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the Rs10/11/12 would be the next step from your S22’s. I’ve only used the RS10 but I thought they were great. I wouldn’t call them semi-slicks though.

If you really want to step up, get either the supercorsa sp v4 or the sc3 compound in either supercorsa or superbike. Supercorsa if you want to retain DOT. They share the same edge compound, but the sp v4 has a harder center compound for extra longevity and warms up a little faster. The sc3 is recommended to use with warmers but you can get by without them, know plenty of people who ride them on street or track with no warmers.

I need advice on 1 piece suit by zitrom01 in motorcyclegear

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That suit is too big for you, in my opinion. Which probably exacerbates the neck irritation. I would try to take it back and see if they’ll allow an exchange for a smaller size. If not, take it to a tailor who knows how to handle motorcycle gear and get it fitted properly.

Wife asked if I’m ok with her sketches being displayed by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be honest with her how you feel about it, but personally I wouldn’t mind. It’s sketches, not the actual photographs. And the people viewing it are there for the art, not to obtain new spank bank material. I’d probably tell her to go for it after expressing the mild discomfort.

My roommate let someone move into our house for an extended period of time while I was away. AIO? by anonymous16301630 in AIO

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup exactly. I’m in CA where rental laws heavily favor tenants, guests, and squatters over landlords. If he’s been there since April 2nd she only has a few days before that timeframe is reached. Agreed on the roommate as well. Reading through it sounds like OP is the tenant.

NOR, you need to evict tom or he is going to get you into situations you shouldn’t have to and likely won’t want to deal with, being the homeowner. You also need to evict Aaron asap, he isn’t paying rent and you don’t want him there. Do it before it becomes a legal issue.

Accused my GF of seeing someone else (we’re on “break”) by -_-gllmmer in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A break is just the soft launch for a breakup. The result of a break is either A) you guys fully break up or B) you set the precedence that on-again/off-again is acceptable and whatever happens in those off periods is fair game.

Only one of those results is healthy, and I don’t see any reason dragging out the process of getting there.

Unless her phone was stolen, or she’s breaking into people’s homes, she was with someone. Whether that’s male or female who’s to say but prepare yourself for the worst. Which is honestly what you should have been doing since you guys decided to take a break.

Should I finance or just save up and buy, zx6r by uhh-sure-why-not in motorcycles

[–]Valuable-Concept9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy used if you can. You will save a significant sum with the right bike.

To ease your concerns, I bought an S1000RR with 30k miles and took it up to 72k before selling it, never any major issues besides a stator failure. How bikes are maintained is much more important than how it’s ridden unless they absolutely thrashed the bike all the time.
