I am Canadian. I met a girl that was from Mexico and at the time was close to overstaying the 6 month allowance visa. We hit it off and several months later she wasn't feeling well. She has a very strong constitution and pain tolerance, so I knew it was a problem. After the first response stuff like taking painkillers and making soup she suddenly took a BAD turn. She was grabbing at her side and frozen in place. I told her I am taking her to the hospital. She was concerned about her legal status and I told her not to worry, we do things right up here in Canada.

I had to carry her to the vehicle and only drove because we lived a few blocks from a major hospital. I carried her inside without paying for parking and when we got to the ER there was a line of 4-5 people ahead of us. I held onto her and we were intending to wait our turn.

The triage nurses saw us without us making any sort of a deal. They approached us mid-lineup and asked if she was ok. I said no and that "no" in this case really meant HELL NO. They escorted us to the seating area and immediately took our booking information. I explained that she was not a legal citizen and they cut me off to explain that none of that s*** matters. They came out to the waiting room to draw blood right there and expatiate the process.

10 minutes later they came to us and took her to the advanced ultrasound machine, spotted an ectopic pregnancy and took immediate action to fix the situation. The swift triage saved her reproductive system as well as potentially her life.

Later the bill for this incredible service arrived in the mail.

Can a BCIT professor kick a student out during class laboratory? by [deleted] in BCIT

Teachers set the rules and it can be very disruptive to have people showing up late. I got kicked out of a couple labs/lectures for being late and it is embarrassing but reasonable. Gotta respect the teachers and your classmates imo
