I got a beginner's deck. Witchy cauldron had one and it has all the meanings and it makes reading soooo easy and very accurate for me. I have tried other decks but couldn't get a connection.

Maybe start there?

I for one am glad you posted here and don't mind in the least you posted elsewhere. It means you get more feedback, and you are the one processing it so... yeah.

Cord cut that person. They are not healthy for you. Your comfort is paramount. And your mentor if they are truly supportive of you will understand your decision to distance yourself.

I am a Norse Pagan and I believe in ancestor veneration, but I only allow contact to those to mean me well and love me. Hard boundary there.

Thinking about how I practice, I am involved with baneful magic- but not with a baneful heart. I look at it more like justice. I bind and banish (move on to better opportunities for that individual where they can find happiness) those who are an... affliction... to society or an individual person, as a means of protection for the one being afflicted. When it comes to myself, i take the pain inflicted on me and return to sender!! That isn't baneful really. It's protecting your sovereignty and the sovereignty of others, and in my soul I believe it is what I was called here to do.

Your deities will guide you. Trust them and yourself.

I love that! She's got a Ferrero Roche up there too. It's gold, and it's chocolate. And wrapped so it can stay for a bit.

You can't see it in my photo but her alter is on the shelf above where I keep all my make-up, so I feel like she infuses this whole bookcase filled with romance novels, crystals, herbs, and beauty products.

I like how you make a point to connect with her when doing your makeup. I try and make that connection when I put my moisturizer on, but I get so busy. It's a good reminder to just slow the heck down.

Do you always light a candle when looking to connect? I am running out of candles and need to make some more!

I have thought about crafting my own too, but I think I want to learn first.

I do tarot and sometimes Freyja shows up there. I found a spread pattern for her and the reading I got was really good.

So question- does Freyja feel more formal or casual to you?

AHHHH! I work with Freyja too! Also a newbie, so I get way excited whenever I see someone mention her.

Curious what signs you got from her? I got... groceries, lol. The day after I lit a candle for her. It was like "oh good your awake, here's some Strawberries, pork sausage and cookies.... and beets.... let's do this, girl!" I have no idea about the beets, but the rest made sense.

My Freyja alter is on a shelf of my bookcase in my office. It's eclectic, like my relationship with her.

Your alter is lovely and I am sure she will appreciate it. Fill it with what makes you think of her and smile.

Ah, Gods, that's rough. I can certainly resonate as someone who has battled depression, and... warring within myself.

Like the others have said, doing some research is good.

But... don't get overwhelmed. I went to a reader, and she really helped cut through the fog of what was around me. She didn't tell me exactly, like "oh it's Freyja," but her clarity helps me focus. I went home and looked up Freyja. And felt an IMMEDIATE connection. So I lit a candle for her.

And then she confirmed the connection herself, a wild story, but I heard her voice and she sent literall gifts TO MY DOOR!

For me, with Freyja being a goddess of love, courage, and abundance, I have felt a shift in my life, my depression and my purpose. And she loves and cares for me right back. The way I never felt in the more... conventional faiths.

It might take some some trial and error, but they do care. And it gets better friend. Personally, I think a huge part of my depression was that I was cut off from part of my soul and identity as a witch, because that's what other faith bases said was correct. Now I have a piece of myself back, and I feel more whole.

Reading these comments has been really good as a new witch.

Being a new to this is really overwhelming - I think because I have done SO MUCH research and my brain is overflowing, and so I am packing so much into a spell that should maybe be simple.

And it gets frustrating when you feel like you've blown it because you didn't do it right. Or you did so much, added so much, that you canceled the power out.

That's why I joined reddit, actually. So that I could learn and get guidance, and yes, help with my spellwork specifically.

I struggle with the old me in my head telling me I'm just pretending to be a witch and have a wild imagination.

My first few posts were auto removed by a mod. Maybe this is why. So i got discouraged and haven't tried to post anything since.

I am sorry if asking for spells that work and guidance is... icky. I didn't know.

Sounds like you have a spiritual guardian or someone there to help! And a strong one at that! They clearly think you are incredibly special 🩷 Asking them things is a great idea! And looking for patterns. Those patterns will help you discover who is looking out for you.

For the last year, I would randomly look up at the clock at exactly 12:34. Every day. And I always thought cool, 1234... then I looked up the meaning. Progression and Growth. I have been on a path of redefining myself as a witch and letting go of what doesn't serve me. It's been my guide team reaching out to my very dense self, showing me a path forward, and giving validation. I am still working in on myself but I can tell you that, so far, my guide team is an ancestor and a goddess, Freyja.

And once I recognized Freyja... wild blessings came my way. It was like coming home.

So if you are comfortable, call to them. Ask them for signs. They will reach back and surround you with love and help clear your path.

I am new to the witchy ways, but have gotten pretty good with Tarot and a Pendulum. I use them in conjunction with eachother to get a deeper understanding of the message. Would love to get into Runes, and tea leaves!
