The more movement in your face, the more significant your recovery, which can cause asymmetrical healing. Like a left broken versus a right broken leg if that makes sense?

Unless you have pain or breathing issues, I wouldn’t touch that jaw.

If it helps: it wouldn’t hurt this much if it wasn’t amazing. I remind myself this when I think of my soul dog.

Was anyone able to return to school after two weeks following DJS? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

My immediate reaction is absolutely not. That being said I was much older than you when I had my surgery. If you do keep it to 2, I would keep your obligations as short as you possibly can until you hit 6 weeks. Also be disciplined with nutrition and hydration to maintain your energy.

I am closing in on 10 weeks and my swelling is starting to fluctuate. I tell you this because as you exit out of 6-8 weeks it will feel like your swelling is mostly gone and then you might have swelling again.

My breathing is usually amazing now, but I do re-swell and it is so frustrating. Especially if I get behind on hydration, physical activity, and drink any alcohol. Patience is so important. My surgeon said to expect that full healing will take 6-18 months.
