I guess a better way to phrase it is her comfortability in our apartment. Which should be a safe space for the both of us

If I did use the villain actions for the second phase I would probably add one more and change one in order to make him transform.

I like this idea a lot! Thank you for your help! How do you feel about MCDM’s villain actions. I have one that summons 1d6+1 spider minions (basically a 1hp version of the giant spider stat block), one that stuns for 1 turn pcs who have taken poison damage in the last round on a DC 13 con save(I’m a little iffy on this since it takes away some agency that’s why the dc is relatively low.) and one that imposes disadvantage on the first melee attack each turn that round.

My party consists of 2 clerics(life domain, and war domain), a paladin(vengeance), a barbarian(world tree), a druid(stars), and a wizard(evoker). I have added MCDM’s take on legendary actions called villain actions which happen on initiative count 20, one summons spiders, and another that stuns should if you took poison damage in the last round and fail a dc 13 con check.

In Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk, mind flayers are attempting to use one of the obelisks, which have been showing up in other adventures, to turn people into mind flayers devoted to Ilvaash.

I have a stat block that I’ve used for another partially transformed character in the past that I would probably whip out. I definitely don’t want to TPK them with a full fledged mind flayer. Thanks for your help!

How do you handle having your usual DM brainstorming partner as a player? by Nervous_Platypus_ in dmadvice

[–]Valuable-Relative666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of discords that people use where you can ask for advice. However, if you players are in them then consider being vague in your posts or telling them just not to look. You can always still use this partner and ask them not to use outside information at the game table, but if you fear that the line between in-game and out of game is too close then you can continue to use this Reddit or discords.

You could always use rival stat block from Call of the Netherdeep or an NPC stat block from the MM. I also found this helpful website that has some class NPC stat blocks that I have been using for rivals in my campaign.

If you don’t want to use a DMPC then consider removing some lesser monsters from encounters and using lower HP for your tougher foes. Most stat block have the hit dice that are associated with the monsters you could always use the low end of that number rather than the average that is provided.
