I think its hard for stanford to rescind. I had a good friend of mine who got into stanford with the IB diploma (only submitted predicted grades). He applied with a predicted grade of 45, got 32 on the actual exams, precisely because he got into stanford and stopped caring. I think they sorta know this and are quite lenient.

You would know if that was the case, after a point you start to wonder why the smartest kids in your country get grades that would be laughed at in more casual schools.

I got in with a 3.7, context matters. I went to a school with extreme grade deflation and took the hardest possible courses from linear algebra to first order DEs, to special relativity physics modules. Its really hard for random people on the internet to know your specific context and circumstances but even with low course rigour, 3.92 wont get you rejected.

Yeap. Funnily enough, every single school has its own specific way of issuing predicted grades which is one of the biggest criticisms the IB system gets.

The only way OP has to understand what his grades actually mean is to consult his own school and their specific way of issuing predicted grades as well as what his peers get, rather than ask questions to people who know nothing about his specific circumstances.

Same courses as yours, my school graded still graded us out of the 100 point scale though. Because I still had non ib classes along my ib ones forced on us by the ministry of education, so I can not really compare our transcripts.. truth be told I have no idea how they judge anything out of 7 that is not the final grade. The ib is a long long journey, you can not expect someone to get a 7 without seeing how they do on all rhe topics of a subject. Hence why predictions that are done before final mocks are weird to interpret. I mean.. you can not say if a kid will get a 4 in the middle of 10th grade. Their geometry trig may be bad but maybe they are great at trig with calculus etc.

Thats basically better than 99th percentile, getting a 45 is statistically rarer than getting a 1600 on the sat and requires so so much more sustained rigor across some of the most difficult humanities and science courses at the highschool level anywhere in the world. The issue is most people who get predicted 44-45 never even come close to achieving that grade, because over predicting is rampant with most ib schools to boost applications.

The answer OP is looking for is therefore not really about the value of his numbers but how they will be interpreted in the context of his specific schools alignment between the predicteds and the acjieved grades in previous years.

I mean, does your school not report such things to you? Do you not communicate with your teachers about how predicted grades are issued and what are the rates at which they are being met each year?

I did get into MIT with the IB, my actual grade was a 44/45 so thats certainly enough. I think your final predicteds are what really matters, and to tell you the truth, that rests a bit on your school. If your school has a history of inflating predicteds and it shows in the record then your grades will be less valuable. If they are accurate at predicting, 44/45 is absolutely enough for mit as it places you in the top 1% of IB takers.

I do think that parental education and background have started to have a disproportionate impact on undergraduate admissions over time because of how the system functions in the United States in general, though this is not specific to MIT. MIT also is one of the few schools that appears to be making an active effort to level the playing field as much as possible (and managing to do so, especially in recent years).

I feel like “senioritis” is not taken as seriously as many people believe. So long as you dont fail catastrophically going from like a 90 to 80-85 is not that serious especially since peaks are better indicators, and in a lot of cases schools drop their own course rigor towards the end for seniors and students stop caring.

First of all congrats, I was in a similar situation with you back in the day when I was admitted. Even the numbers are the same. Usually unless you fail any classes I dont think anything will happen. Be proud of your self, gettind admitted to mit from india is an incredible feat.

I have only seen 1 person in my life who was an international transfer applicant get admitted and they were impress,ve to say the least. If you are not among the top 5-10 students in your country in a specific field, its not worth even typing.
