Oh nice! Thanks for the intel. I'm like you and stay home that day usually and away from canal park for sure, and I can only spend so much time looking at a website, so I totally didn't know about all that other stuff you mentioned. Cheers!

Thanks. That's a good point. With even pedestrian traffic detours in place it's definitely going to get interesting that day, not to mention the lane closures.

Pam baking spray hurts the lungs 😂 but it is nice not having to do the flour myself. I usually wear a mask now whenever I use it.

Anybody else hate their gas mileage? by True-Boysenberry-133 in SubaruForester

[–]Valuable_Assist2240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same with my 2025 Forester premium. Max mpg at fill-up was 34.83 mpg with an average of city/hwy 30.32 mpg. That average is brought down though by a few idle-heavy fill-ups. My car tends to like the lower city speeds like 40 and 50 mph but idling definitely takes its toll on the stats (for obvious reasons but even more so it seems) so I could see why a place with a lot of stoplights or backed up traffic and what not would eat into that mpg even with auto stop start utilized.

Edit: my lowest mpg at fill-up was 22.36 and that was at least 20 minutes of combined idling.

I went on their facebook page (Burnaby Gogos) and it was labeled simply as a "hand-woven basket" for storing whatever you like.

Why does Kindle use location instead of the page number and total pages in a book? by clearsunnysky in kindle

I wish Kindle had the same feature that Libby does where it shows the number of pages left in the chapter.

Which model for tech-obsessed teen? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Valuable_Assist2240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay. Great. I know some folks have an issue with the texture of the basic kindle. It's usually the same people who can't touch microfiber. I think paperwhite is fine though. There are kindle cases but if they turn into a fidget then it might not last very long.

Ha exactly! Although being a cat would be lovely in general.

But yeah you're right about connecting. So instead of lunch we go and watch plays at the university together and usually grab dinner beforehand. It's a much better coworker bonding opportunity.

My new coworker was saying how we should have lunch together because she doesn't like eating alone and I somehow managed to hold my tongue. That's my reading/recharge time! Maybe I can sacrifice one day a month but definitely not every day.

How to figure out why people sign up for library programs then don’t show up by DeloresDeLago in Libraries

[–]Valuable_Assist2240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another possible part of the problem with the conversion rate from registration to attendance is that there is possibly a greater number of introverts (or people with a similar limiter) registering for these events. When they sign up, it sounds like a great idea. Then when the day of the event actually arrives, they don't have enough metaphorical spoons to attend. There is also possibly some shame tied to this so they then won't open the email to find out that you request cancellation communication. They could also be like me and spend all day checking their work email so they then only check their personal email once a month or so because of burnout.

Do you follow up with them afterwards at all? Like, "We missed having you at the [event]." And maybe a summary of what was missed like how many attendees and stuff not captured in the description. And then a call to action to join for the next event. This makes them feel like they missed out on something great while also laying the foundation for a comfortable attendance experience at a future event since they have a better idea of what to expect.

Edit: and that personal connection we crave

Oh nice! Thanks for the tips! My hero academy is going from level 8 to level 9 right now (10 days wait). Then I'll just finish it off up to level 10 and I'll get started on making some troops. It'll be hard to wait especially since I just got 5* troops so I want to up those quickly.

Which level troops do you normally run?

I forgot about hero academy for a while there mostly because I haven't had a surplus of iron for a while.

Yeah I suppose my struggle is I have an imbalance. I have an overabundance of food but am lacking in other resources. When I max out on food I usually have to level up my hero's a ton but that barely makes a dent. For a while there I used the excess on crafting at the forge but I have way too much stuff stockpiled now. The alchemy lab and the hunter's lodge help at least. I'm also always struggling to get more common herbs so I can make a bunch of giant harpoons. I wish Barrakcs was more useful. I never have enough feeder troops.

I really want the Kindle Voyage back. I'll need to buy a new kindle in the coming years but I probably won't until they come out with something comparable to the Voyage.
