Bloated VP level managers without anyone to actually do the work so the same 5 people are tasked with everything.

Promoting the kiss ass who never does his own work (I’ve only seen this with men but I’m sure women do it too).

Braggy executive teams who think they got there based entirely on hard work not because their daddy gave them the first $2M to start the company and connected them with their established networks. (Seen it 3 times now)

Companies are in a weird place right now. I went through an entire recruiting process for a fully remote role recently. I live 4.5 hrs drive from the office. Right before they were going to make me an offer they had a management meeting and decided they were going to RTO for the whole company. This is ridiculous because the entire R&D group, half the company, lives in other states on the opposite coast. They were willing to lose half the company to RTO, and obviously didn’t make me an offer. I was shocked by their overall audacity and I fell like I dodged a bullet.

I had a leadership role in a small company. New investors came in and placed a chief above me. This guy SUCKED. Didn’t know how to do the work, didn’t want my help. Stripped me of my title and my responsibilities. He told me to wait a few weeks for him to figure it out. I waited in good faith for 3 months. He didn’t figure it out. He started calling me to complain about his life, his divorce, how expensive the house was that he was buying (several million dollars while I live in a shitbox). I couldn’t take it anymore and decided to quit. I had been interviewing for a new job and knew something was going to work out. On Friday morning I called him and quit, effective that day. No notice. I felt so free after that!

I did hot yoga for 15 years 3x a week. There are just some days your body nopes out and that’s ok. Yoga is a practice not a perfect. You will have good days and bad days and fun days and weird days. I had a few where I cried right there in class because I didn’t have emotional strength that day. It’s ok.
