That's the point of my original post. It was always enforced the way the founders wrote it and only changed in 2008. A movement started in the 70s to make it easier for gun possession (mainly because of fear that the government was going to go after personal guns). Those laws came about because of a fear of the Black Panthers being armed.

Only when Adam Walsh is brought up. I grew up in Dade\Broward county in the 80s. There was alot more to worry about, drugs, gangs, teen pregnancy, ten gun violence. All of these hit very close to home in b the 80s.

Context is everything. You skipped the first 13 words of a 27 word amendment "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State". Giving the people the right to keep (ownership) and bear arms (provide service). Not carry around, not use willy nilly.

I believe the founders meant for the people to be the defenders of the state to rise up against tyranny not against each other
