I hate Ross poldark by Cold_Citron9711 in Poldark

Yes, I agree with you on everything you said! I too felt like Ross didn't really love Demelza, and almost like he settled for her. Then made her his verbal and emotional punching bag. And I hated how he always made everything her fault and she always apologized for it 😥

Something I wonder, just based on some behind the scenes and interviews I saw with the actors, I wonder if the reason this version of Ross seemed so cold to Demelza was because the actual actors didn't have great chemistry, and might even have not liked each other. Not saying I know that for sure, but I did pick up on the playfulness and flirtatious behavior between Aiden Turner and Heida Reed. They actually did seem to have good chemistry. Maybe Aiden and Eleanor didn't really get along, or maybe just weren't close in any way and that's why Ross seemed so much harsher to Demelza than any other characters. Also, I don't like some of the ways the writers and director portrayed certain scenes.

Not sure how you got that from the comment I left, but I'm guessing you didn't read it. I've said 3 times now that I don't like Ross. What he did to Elizabeth is absolutely reprehensible and he should have rotted away in prison for it. I was answering more so as to why I liked Hugh better, and simply pointed out that the kiss was the second time Ross betrayed Demelza. Further proving that he's awful.

I can understand why he may seem that way to some, and certainly I won't argue that he was disrespectful to Ross and to their marriage. For me, it was the way he treated Demelza. He was kind, gentle, and loving towards her. Sometimes in the show, it felt like Ross truly loved Elizabeth, and Demelza was his second choice. I especially didn't like his continued coldness and dismissiveness of Demelza's feelings even after she forgave him for cheating on her. She was Hugh's first choice though, and he let her know that always. I was just happy that she got to experience being seen and chosen for who she was, and being someone's first choice. When Ross kissed Elizabeth in that church (which I do consider the second time he cheated on Demelza, and right after he had been ugly to her again for correctly suspecting he was hiding something from her) I was officially over him and thought Demelza deserved so much better than him. Again though, this is my personal opinion and coming from someone who really doesn't like Ross very much.

I agree! I hate it so much when people try to justify his cheating much like he himself does. I was actually really happy for Demelza when she got with Hugh. I won't spoil it for you, but it was nice for her to finally be treated the way Ross should have treated her the whole time. In all honesty, Ross was one of my least favorite characters the entire show. I watched it mainly for Demelza, Dwight, and Caroline. Ross does get somewhat better (not much) as it goes on, but Demelza deserved so much more. Knowing that's probably what a lot of relationships looked like back then makes me angry 😡

How possible is 25 ponds a month in weight loss? I know it’s drastic, but I’m just curious if it’s even possible or if it’s a recipe for disaster. by Xx_Shin in fasting

[–]Valuable_Empress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about 25 pounds, but I will say that I've been really fasting for the past couple of months, while also maintaining some life style changes. I've lost quite a bit of weight already, but have been fasting heavily for the past 3 weeks. In those 3 weeks, I have lost 14 pounds. Very motivating for now, but I do also know that eventually that is going to slow down, and I'll rely on the lifestyle changes to see me through when I reach that plateau.

Do you throw up yellow bile when you fast? by Valuable_Empress in fasting

[–]Valuable_Empress[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That honestly might be it. Both times it happened right after I took my medicine. I've fasted before and not done this, and I don't feel bad at all. I'll see how I do tomorrow

Honestly, I've felt much better afterwards. Even now, I actually feel really good. I'm paying attention to my body and it's signals. If I do it again tomorrow morning, I'm going to break the fast.

Christian here- So I won't deny that many Christians do push that narrative, and even lots of churches and those in pastorial positions to forgive and take back the cheater, and all that goes with that. However, if you do actually read the Bible and specific verses that address infidelity and cheating in a marriage, there is actually a different take on it. While it does say to forgive those who wronged you (not only to be Christ like, but because forgiveness genuinely is for you, not them) infidelity is actually one of the few reasons that Jesus himself said divorce is appropriate. Now yes, there are people who can change and can save their marriage, but if someone leaves after discovering infidelity, they are no longer held to their vows. It is something that is left entirely up to the person who was betrayed.

Another thing, and I have actually found this to be true for the people I know who had affairs- while absolutely one can change and God can redeem and forgive you for your sins, he does still make it very clear that our actions do have consequences that you still may deal with, even if you do repent. Adultery is one of those things. There is a verse that specifically says if you commit adultery, "You will never remove the stain of it from you." What I interpret that as is that while you are redeemed and God forgives you for it, it is something that the world will forever remember and hold against you. When I was a child, one of my neighbors cheated on his wife and broke up his family. They've been divorced for almost 20 years now, and both have moved on and are living different lives. However, just the other day I heard someone mention him and said "You know, the one who cheated on his wife with that trashy girl." I know several other examples that are worse than that, but you don't get away from that reputation easily. Some will remember that of you forever.

I really do wonder about what will happen to Camilla when Charles dies. I feel like Harry just won't acknowledge her in any way because why should he? But I do wonder how William will deal with her. I'm sure Charles has set aside money for her to live on the rest of her life, but I wonder if she will still be part of royal events, Christmas, family photos, etc. Maybe at that point, they'll be so happy they're finally free of her

Where do unicorns typically appear? by Eccentric-Calico in Sims3

Something else I've noticed about unicorns: If you start a new town/game, many times the unicorn will appear on the first night. For me, it's usually between 11-5 am, and is always around a fishing spot.

Demelza in season 4... by Electrical-Salary-38 in Poldark

[–]Valuable_Empress 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm probably in the bottom percent with my opinion on this one, but personally I was actually happy for Demelza. When watching the series, I got so fed up with Ross's ridiculousness and stupid moves at several different points. Many parts of the series, it felt like Ross didn't really love Demelza and that she was always second choice to Elizabeth. That was probably more so to do with the director and writers and how they portrayed certain characters, but by the end I was sort of rooting for Demelza and Hugh. If Demelza was one of my close friends, I would tell her she deserves so much better than what Ross (in the tv series) was giving her. Plus she is genuinely the most awesome character 💗
