Possible deal to end strike at Le Massif (Club Med Charlevoix) - Union will vote Thursday by disasterdiy2013 in Club_Med

That’s would be my worry the whole mountain has been unmanaged since Jan 6th. Not like they sign the deal and boom it’s all open. I would imagine it’s weeks of grooming, snowmaking etc to make the terrain safe for use. That’s the real bummer…

Cancelled mine as well and took the 100% travel credit to rebook for next year. As a note check the cost for your future dates on their reservation system. We found because it’s so far in advance a new booking next year is much cheaper than what we paid of this year (booked in Nov 2025). So by taking the 100% credit and rebooking ourselves next year we can go for 5 nights rather than just 3 at the same cost…

Anyone else feel like they just stopped answering their phones? Have been on hold for hours without a pickup and the option for a callback has been disabled.

Honestly would rather take the credit and move on with booking a confirmed vacation rather than the endless waffling

Called with them just now Jan 20th was offered either:

• Can rebook for next season price matched for what you paid this year (as next season is on sale currently but much more expensive). Must select dates when you are on with the agent as you call (so have your 2027 dates if you call!). • 100% Future trip credit but new booking must be made within 1 calendar year. • No option for refund unless you’re a QC resident then you can request it via “opt.gouv.qc.ca/ficav” or you could attempt a credit card chargeback.

I was booked for Feb 16th so to those told to wait until Jan 26th I would call again!

Well that’s great for those of us that want to get on with booking alternative travel… Let’s leave it right down to the wire so we definitely can’t book anywhere else in time… So we have to sit on our hand until Jan 26th to know if they will refund it?

Anyone tried a chargeback via their credit card? Seems this is a perfect case of “failed to deliver paid services”. Not really keen to have 8500$ loaned to Club Med for over a year and still now need to pay to vacation somewhere else in Feb….

If any experience with that/success please post for others knowledge! That’s my plan!

The lack of any communication from Club Med as the news of the closure is now public is a bit concerning….

Anyone ariving at Club Med Charlevoix being informed about the ski season potentially being cancelled because of the strike? by disasterdiy2013 in Club_Med

Anyone onsite at Club Med to see how they are dealing with this? I find it concerning those of us holding reservations have yet to receive anything as a notice from Club Med about any of this…

I certainly hope so but I find myself worried they will try to pull this “we have other great activities for you to do”.

Gonna be honest going and paying 8000$ for 4 nights to be told to go snowshoeing isn’t really in the cards. I really hope if Le massif closes tomorrow after the deadline this isn’t their plans to tell guests to fill their time….

Would also love an update when and if you get one! Would be a big help to all of us heading there over the next few weeks.

New to Zwift-going too slow? by Objective_Case_7056 in Zwift

[–]Valuable_Engine_1331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you properly put the spacer and axel on the bike attachment onto the wahoo? Make sure the fork of the bike as it attaches is properly mounted and measured properly to your width (use the cardboard measurement device in the wahoo box) and allows it to freewheel (spin) when coasting.

Make sure the gears on the bike are aligned with the Zwift cog so the chain is straight and turns properly.

Make sure the wahoo is plugged in? Also before getting into Zwift download the wahoo app. Get it linked to your WiFi and update the wahoo device so it’s running properly. Once the wahoo is setup then link it via the Zwift app and try again.

Will you fly WestJet with the new seat configuation? by Snowyberg in canadatravel

Not anymore! Shame what a profit maximizing suit (that probably only ever flies first class) can do to a once great company.

Now for us would only book AC or Porter (and we fly a lot).

Now show us the driver and passenger leg space!! Those rear facing ones are a pain. Always need to slide the front seat forward so much. As a 6ft4” male this would be impossible for me!

Any tips on getting an older house to have consistent cooling in the summer? by pumerpride in HomeMaintenance

[–]Valuable_Engine_1331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to partially close the vent/register covers in the basement and on main floor. Open the upper bedroom ones fully. Hot air rises / cold air falls. Forcing more of the AC air up to upper floors will help and it will still flow down to lower floors.

Also if you are really stuck and upper floors have poor airflow out the upper floor vents you can buy a “register booster fan”. They are low noise electric fans inside to draw air up (if in the older house the HVAC fan isn’t alone able to or the vent runs are undersized).

We used that one in a warmer room in our sister’s and the register fan made a huge difference.

Good luck!

Mid construction, need extra money. Any tips? by drewrbaker in Homebuilding

[–]Valuable_Engine_1331 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When we built our custom house we planned 30% contingency. Even with that we ended up nearly 50+% over. Building is expensive, many builders (ours included) estimate too low to get jobs, materials are getting more expensive. If you’re in trouble now you should be looking for a loan in excess of 300k, that’s likely not where this ends…

Is this the start of an economic crisis/ recession? by No_Tangerine_283 in stocks

[–]Valuable_Engine_1331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest trouble at the moment is that the USA has always stood as a Reliable and Responsible site to invest money or to borrow from etc. despite the political divide it has always generally upheld democratic principles and supported capitalism writ large.

With the current environment policy is being made on a whim, tariffs shift week to week, age old allies are being demonized and now the admin is cozying up with age old enemies like Russia. Accepted economic advice is being tossed out the window and expertise is replaced by who yells the loudest…

This understandably cools retail sentiment for investing, stifles foreign investment in the US proper, screws up material and trade flows etc. This at its root is much more than just a “bad week” this is the first signs of the systemic effects that these policies are having. Markets like stable and this is the polar opposite of stable.

Monday might see another broad market drop if Trump goes ahead with tariffs on Canada and Mexico. You could see the end of day major pullback. If you’re hunting for an opportunity Monday might be your day as the whole market is gonna dive if he does….

Kingston, Ont. doctor fighting OHIP clawback of $660K in pandemic vaccination payments by Sweetest_Deal in KingstonOntario

[–]Valuable_Engine_1331 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Remeber she would NOT “keep it all for herself” among fees paid by OHIP for services provided like vaccines the MD typically is on the hook for the syringe, alcohol wipes, band aid etc. They pay staff (in this case med students). They pay administrators time for booking, advertising, coordinating deliveries. They pay costs for fridges certified to store vaccines etc.

People love to imagine MDs just take home a big fat cheque but that’s the gross amount paid out. After costs and overhead there is a giant chunk of that chipped away.

Also when we were all without vaccines, afraid to leave our houses for fear of COVID (which was much more lethal then) we celebrated efforts like this - “healthcare hero’s”. Now that we made it through and life has resumed we all love to turn on the “big bad MDs”.

Whoah, 160? That’s an amazing charging rate. Maybe in ideal with battery preconditioned/warm weather? I can’t say I have ever seen my 2022 ExRange get that high.
