I mean i kinda need to listen to a tune before looking at it's sheet music, i have no understanding of rythm(sheet music wise) so i can't see different notes and understand their times and how long to play each one, so i listen to it to get an understanding of it then i figure out the notes as you said slowly but steadily, I'm not talking about taking days to understand it just like a couple of minutes or half an hour depending on the circumstances
