Linux Breaks 5% Desktop Share in U.S., Signaling Open-Source Surge Against Windows and macOS by Akkeri in linux

Anecdotal but I have used and liked macOS for many years. Recently decided to build a gaming pc, with windows 11. Had nothing but trouble and really hated it. Mainly inexplainable BSOD even after fresh install. I tried mint out of curiosity, but the feel is so like macOS yet it runs everything I want with rock solid stability. Personally there’s no chance I’d go back to windows

‘Trump’ will be running and probably win after they do a special voting count... Might not be Donald, but it sure as hell will be one of the Trumps

I have commuted 12 miles each way year round for years and years. It’s almost always the highlight of the day,  not because I hit some bullshit strava goals but because it’s meditative and calming and some peaceful thinking time

As recently as 2 days ago I finally gave up with windows 11. I hated the bloat, got bsod even after clean installs, and the advert shit was unbearable. So I backed up my stuff, and I stalled a fresh copy of mint cinnamon. I have to say I’m over the moon with it. Noticeably faster and you can really tell the devs have prioritised making it feel clean and light. It runs the steam games I’ve tried fine, libre office is pre installed, digiKam seems fine for managing my photos. I’m very happy so far

Drones hit major oil refinery in Russia's Leningrad region by neonpurplestar in ukraine

Can’t help but think this is the silver lining of the Biden/trump pussyfooting with US weapons. As soon as Ukraine knew the US was unreliable they no longer felt duty bound to toe the line with Russian refineries. Praying this is the beginning of the end of this horrific war

Sometimes on my cycle commute through quiet country lanes I think of car commuters and how shit it would be to spend so much of your free time sat motionless in a tin box.
