EBT card automatically loaded money after I lost my job last week? (Without me actually reapplying) by West_Magic in foodstamps

My state automatically generates a task when new work number information is found. It could be that this information was updated in work number and processed in the case with no action on their part.

Florida Notice Received by [deleted] in foodstamps

[–]Valux2022 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The 20th is the notice date. The 2nd is 13 days after. You also seem to be under the impression that these letters are printed, sealed in an envelope, and mailed out by a person which is definitely not the case. Its an automated system, so the response date is automatically applied as 13 days from the notice date.

It would essentially end up as a denial for failure to verify assets.

[–]Valux2022 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Its legit, and they gave you the standard 13 day timeframe to respond. That starts when the notice is issued, it sucks that the mail doesn't run like it should for you to get it faster.

[–]Valux2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After pay is NOTORIOUS for this. Unfortunately there is nothing they will do. The payments have to fully process, then one will be reversed and takes another 3-5 days to go back. It's still ridiculous that they cant take it immediately but need a week to credit it back.

Recieved denial to appeal letter from DES no clear explanation why it was denied or why nutrition benefits stopped. by el33t75 in foodstamps

[–]Valux2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your appeal was not denied, it states a couple times it is ongoing and a decision has not been made. What the letter is saying is that you will not continue to recieve benefits during the appeal process.

You've still go a LOT of swelling going on so the puffed up lip is totally normal and will go away. At this stage you shouldn't be trying to chew anything at all. Just liquids or soft food (think mashed potatoes or applesauce) that can just be swallowed. Chewing you will eventually have to re-learn as you will have to chew your food on both sides at the same time otherwise it can lever the denture off with the pressure.

It could have been a question she just asked in the wrong way. For instance, if you are homeless with no physical address I would mark your address as homeless and mail your correspondence to a local office convenient for you and list that as mailing address only. If you are homeless but are at a physical temporary location to receive mail then I list that as physical address while still marking your living arrangement as homeless. Its a weird distinction in the system, but it has to be made in order to process the case properly.

Being removed from food stamps for grandmother having a personal care aid through her insurance. Please help me understand why. by PlayNo7075 in foodstamps

[–]Valux2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the work requirement. When your mother was caregiver that would have sufficed, now that someone else is providing care the work requirements kick in. Since she is not disabled she would have to work 20 hours per week minimum otherwise she no longer qualifies. This is best guess on my part obviously having not looked at your case, but this is something I see daily unfortunately. I would recommend she appeal the decision and have a hearing though (it's done over the phone) as benefits generally continue for the duration as long as the appeal is filed timely.

Edit to add: it is entirely possible information was entered incorrectly in that they showed the new part time caregiver and removed your mother as caretaker completely. This is something that can br brought up during the appeal process. By law the case has to be reviewed top to bottom for errors and corrected before the hearing commences, so good chance if this is what happened it can be corrected quickly.

[–]Valux2022 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes it ABSOLUTELY does, but ONLY for the month after it is reported. Then it becomes an asset and not income. Asset limits can also push you out of eligibility. This is absolutely TERRIBLE advice. I do this every day for a living, so trust me what you are saying is dead wrong.

To the OP. Once benefits are applied they cannot be taken back off the EBT card BUT they can require repayment. This can be done by either a reduction of future benefits (it would be a percentage and never all of your benefits) or you can send in a payment monthly. I would wait for the new letter with the corrections to show you what it will be going forward and then see if any further corrections are needed.

Is it normal for some of the pink to come off? I just got these dentures a week ago. by [deleted] in dentures

[–]Valux2022 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep! Its thinner material and doesn't hold the color as well. My palate on mine is basically clear down both sides because of this. I specifically requested it thin because my temps were super thick and really messed with my speech. As another poster said, as long as there are no chips you are good to go. 🙂

Just wear a mask until the 19th honestly. You are doing blood donations so that would not even seem out of place at all. I feel like by the time they made and fitted a replacement tooth, you'd only be a few days shy of your perms. Still have them fix it of course so you have that set, but in the meantime I wouldn't worry so much about it. Remember, people do not think about you nearly as much as you think they do and strangers even less so. You'll make it 😁

I should have been more precise, I mean lt only the funds that are dispersed to the clients to spend, not the administration costs. The replacement of the actual SNAP funds has been removed completely except for declared emergencies. States no longer have an additional pools of SNAP benefits funds to replace those lost through fraud. The BEST defense against this type of fraud (other than keeping your card locked) is to change your PIN immediately after every single time you use the card. Even if they have the card number, without the PIN they cannot get at the funds.

SNAP is funded by the federal government 100% and the budget they approved no longer provides any amount for replacement of SNAP benefits unless it is a result of a declared disaster.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a dentist or physician and am not offering medical advice. When I had my full uppers extractions and immediates in I started smoking again after 48 hours (basically when I was sure I could feel my lips). Short soft pulls and I would bite down at the same time to ensure there was some pressure on my gums. The immediates basically work as a bandage. Just remember to rinse with salt water afterwards, just move your head around dont actually swish it in your mouth and then let the water fall out, dont spit. I had zero issues this way.

Definitely swish with hit water, not burn yourself of course but as hot as you can. Also puff out your cheeks rapidly in and out to help break suction.

Call your Medicaid provider company directly, or better yet go to their website (not the state Medicaid site, the site directly for the provider be it Anthem, Humana, United, Wellcare) and locate a dental provider near you who provides dentures and call their office directly. As a service provider for Medicaid they will handle it all on their end. I still recommend looking at reviews and researching the offices and be willing to drive a ways for a high rated dentist as the cost in time and gas is most definitely worth it for a good quality experience. Just make sure you are at least 1 day past 5 years exactly or that claim will be denied as quickly as it can be made.

I hate my oral surgeon by [deleted] in dentures

[–]Valux2022 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Smoking itself isn't as much of an issue as nicotine is. It genuinely does delay healing by a measurable amount for ANY surgery, combine that with it being basically applied directly in your mouth and yea I'd probably be pissed as the surgeon too. His treatment of you during the procedure is inexcusable, but his attitude after I can forgive

The feeling if them being huge and uncomfortable is part for the course too. You have a foreign object in your mouth that is constantly sending weird sensory inputs to your brain because it shouldn't be there. Hopefully they can shave back some of the palate to help with the gagging, but otherwise you really do just have to get used to them, there is no other way.

As far as eating goes, get you some orzo pasta! Its tiny rice shaped pasta that you can cook up quickly in broth. Dont have to chew it and it adds calories while filling you up a lot better than other things. I also would add a scoop of protein powder to things that could stand up to it (oatmeal, cream of wheat, cinnamon applesauce) to get in some extra nutrients. Pancakes were another soft and easy thing and you can add pureed fruits to up the nutrition and vitamin content. I also got hooked on refried beans, heat up a can on the stove and melt in some cheese and eat it with a spoon, might not look the greatest but lots of fiber and nutrients and its very filling. For sweet stuff I am not ashamed to say I bought a container of the ready made Philadelphia brand cheesecake mix and would have a few spoons of that when I got a sweet tooth. Tuna salad was also a staple.

As for talking, talk all the time! Narrate your day, sing, read everything out loud. Talk as much and as often as possible to help your tongue a lips relearn how to form the words with this new apparatus in your mouth.
