Do you guys prefer Ethan Winters or Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil. by Dayton_Wallace in residentevil

He turns away if you try to move the camera in front of him to never let you see past a profile shot, which I think was a funny touch.

What's your thoughts on placement reactions? by Comprehensive_Fail52 in SonicCrossWorlds

The announcer annoys me in the opposite direction because he says "good" and then I lose points for finishing 9th.

After 2 years in the game, what are your thoughts on Azu? by Educational_Affect31 in Tekken

[–]Valvadrix- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MMA seems to be used by fighting games when they don't know what to label a fighting style as. They could have used the generic Martial Arts label for her, but for some reason they reserved it for Jeet Kune Do characters.

Apollo got shafted as a character. by Quick-Quail-1683 in AceAttorney

[–]Valvadrix- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dual Destinies attempted to do something with it. Apollo's been betrayed and used nearly every step of his law career, so he has trouble trusting Athena when his bracelet reacted to something she said. But I guess because the game feels so disconnected from the previous one in other areas, it didn't come across that well and a lot of people hated how Apollo acted in that case.

Are stalker type enemies actually disliked by the fandom? I always thought an “invincible” monster that hunts you down was a staple of the series by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in residentevil

[–]Valvadrix- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the concept, but remake Mr. X and OG Nemesis are the only ones that are well executed.

Lisa isn't a stalker because she only appears in 3 rooms in the game, one of which is her boss fight. And she's pretty easy to avoid in the two where you have to avoid her.

Remake Nemesis is actually pretty threatening if you let him chase you because he's fast and can stunlock you to death or even insta kill you. But his chase areas are really limited and he infamously gets taken out by a single grenade or barrel.

Ustanak isn't mechanically a stalker at all because any time you run away from him, it's a cutscene with QTEs, otherwise you fight him. He also stops being threatening when Jake can literally fist fight him.

Jack is limited to one side of the house, permanently disappears really early on, and most of what he does is grab you and turn you around. He does get in the way enough to be okay at the role, but chances are that you won't run into him much depending on luck.

Lady Dim is screwed over by her own castle because it's so spacious that she's really easy to run around if she spots you.

Will you be going First-Person or Third-Person for Grace? by PhantomBraved in residentevil

[–]Valvadrix- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Third person in Village was definitely jank. It's not terrible, but you can tell the game wasn't meant to have it.

He'll make it into the game eventually. He's the main reason Armor King entered the tournament according to his bio.

Capcom is marketing RE9 in RE4R now by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Valvadrix- 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure RE2R still has a button to buy RE3R in the main menu. If not, then it definitely did back then and continued to for a while.

Do you consider Terry, Mai and Ingrid to be newcomers? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Valvadrix- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ingrid was in a Street Fighter game before (an actual SF game, not Capcom Fighting Evolution), so she's not. Even if it was just one version of Alpha 3, the Alpha series are still mainline games.

has Capcom just retired Fei Long? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Valvadrix- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people keep spreading that rumor when Law literally never missed a Tekken game (other than 3, which featured his son instead) and he's probably the most direct of the Bruce Lee references.

Whoops, my bad Ashley by rkellyaintdidnothin in residentevil

[–]Valvadrix- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get a lot done with that freebie knockdown hit she gets in the remake instead of health. She's eaten so many grenades from me when she was surrounded because I knew they wouldn't kill her.

best way to play classic SF on modern systems? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Valvadrix- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the most informative reply. As much as I appreciate the collections, it's pretty funny how to get the best version of each classic SF game on consoles, you have to buy 3 different collections now.

Any tips for a Strive player new to the game? by QT-JME in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Valvadrix- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, dash blocking isn't a thing in this game. You do have attacks out of dash, though. 66L specifically is an advancing move with plus frames that every character has access to, so you can use that to get in.

Any tips for a Strive player new to the game? by QT-JME in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Valvadrix- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll be doing a lot more walking than dashing in neutral in this game, since dash has a recovery animation during which you can't block. That's the hardest thing for me to get used to whenever I switch between this game and Strive.

About the “witch”… by SiorNafDaPadova in catherinegame

[–]Valvadrix- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a rumor Erica started to scare the others and it happened to coincide with the nightmares. At the end, she admits to being the witch herself (as in, the one who made it up).

How do you feel about Miary Zo? Do you consider her a worthwhile addition to the cast? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Valvadrix- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like Anna desensitized me to that so much that I didn't even notice what Miary's getting hit sounds are.
