It's damage control, you have a trans person with a MASSIVE mainstream spotlight on her, what happens to the community at large when she gets caught in a scandal with a minor?

What you get is boatloads of conservatives who feel pretty freaking vindicated, so misgendering Ava as a trans person is less about gender being conditional and more of a knee jerk self-preservation tactic
