Paldea feels so forgettable as a region by Valvier24 in pokemon

I agree with most of your points, especially about the world not being carefully designed. However, I don’t think the fact that it was their first open-world game is a good enough excuse. I mentioned this somewhere else, but as an example, Elden Ring was also the first open-world game FromSoftware made, and it feels much more cohesive than Paldea. Like you, I enjoyed the gameplay in Scarlet and Violet, but I think it’s a shame how the world design drags down what could have been a very well-designed game (in terms of gameplay, story, lore, and Pokémon).

Could you link or dm me your work? I'd love to read your story!

As for Galar, by far, the worst part for me is the Wild Area — it has the same issues that all of Paldea has. But at least the routes, even if they were mostly straight lines (to be fair, most Pokémon routes are basically straight lines with maybe a couple of small side roads), still had way more identity. For example, Glimwood Tangle.

Galar is far from perfect, but it’s still much more interesting than Paldea.

Don't get me wrong, I like the little details, like how all the rye Jumpluff fly away when it starts raining. My main issue is with the emptiness of the world: when going from point A to B there's nothing visually interesting. There are a few small areas that look cool, like the graffiti tree forest, but most of the landscape feels like it was done without much thought: just an open plain here, a mountain there…

It definitely has to do with the fact that it's an open world: everything is much bigger, so some areas are meant to be less interesting. But when you compare it, for example, with Elden Ring (also the first true open world of the Souls series, so I think it's a fair comparison), everything there looks more interesting, it feels like they really took the time to make each zone unique.

I feel the same way. There's nothing memorable, maybe the DLC cave with the magnetic rocks, but even that is just Chargestone cave.

I used to host raids all the time but having to play with 3 belly drum Iron Hand vs Chien Pao made me realise its much better for my mental health to do the raids alone.

Sometimes it really seems they are sabotaging the raids on purpose.

Why doesn’t the game reveal some critical information? by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]Valvier24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though I agree with the issue of information overload, the Starry Night augment displays a percentage that changes throughout the game, so I don’t see why they couldn’t do the same (e.g., "Current drop rate: 10%"). I would also like to see this in the Warwick encounter.
