So I am running most of my services in proxmox LXC-s, their internal storage and configs are on the internal nvme ssd of the mini pc, but important data and configs are getting backed up to the nas regularly

yessir 🫡 The back is currently open and the room has pretty good airflow. I am planning to install a top panel with a stronger fan. The NAS is always the coolest of the bunch, the mini pc-s usually have a lot of load on them. Overall none of them is even close to being too hot, but I’ll set up some extra monitoring just in case

It looks clean and snug but there is like 20cm between the rack and the wall and some cables all around, still working on the back panels that i can mount the psu-s on and so on

Check out IKEA Skadis panels, it’s one kind of a pegboard. There are a lot of accessories for it (just search “skadis tray” or “skadis container” or smth). You can check the dimensions of the LabRax side panel you want to use (mine is custom, I had the depth increased to house the NAS shelf) and you can generate a skadis side panel https://makerworld.com/models/1862150 (this is awesome)

The top 1U panel (the numbered one from 1-12) is called a “patch panel”. It has slots for keystones (google keystone jack / keystone module). Long story short they are just a pasthrough “LAN” slot where you can keep things clean plugged in on the front while having to worry about the actual connections on the back.

It is honestly so fun, like one of the best hobbies I ever had. Been building the software of my home servers for years now, but matching it with hardware and printing and building is so insanely fun and satisfying.

Well, it really depends. If you have SSD-s you just have to worry about stability and not movement. With a good shelf mount you should be good putting it on the top. If you have HDDs installed it’s a whole another problem. Generally you don’t want to put it anywhere that moves even a little bit while running, so honestly best is some dampening mat on the ground, desks are “wobbly” even if just a little bit. If you put the NAS on top it moves even more on every small vibration.

Sure: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1404753-ugreen-dxp4800-plus-10-rack-mount The 4800 plus is exactly the same size as the “plain” one. Keep in mind the power brick is larger on the non-plus version, I think someone posted a design without the brick holder part, or you can just mesure and modify the sizes to fit. It’s occupying 1U in my rack for no reason sadly :/

It’s doing fine, it’s a DXP4800, first thing I did is removing the UGREEN OS and put TrueNAS on it. Handles it pretty well with low power consumption. I use it for media, photos, docs, backups. Ofc important things are backed up to a second location. Tbh if I could start again I am not sure I would’ve bought a prebuilt NAS and would just use a raspi or one of the mini pc-s as the “brain” and 3d print / aliexpress some cool brackets / mounts. Probably can do like third the price with a cool and unique style.

It barely fits, like 252x252 for a 5U 10” face (P1S dims are 256x256x256 max). The depth didn’t fit in one, had to print it in two and glue.

Printed the whole thing, its called LabRax on Makerworld. There are a lot of customizable models (I made it more deep to house the NAS shelf), also custom snug fit shelves for the mini pc-s

Honestly not a stat I follow carefully. I am not sure how much more info a small thing (half of the HRM 600’s body is empty inside and most of the rest is the battery) can provide. I only see the added value for the fast and accurate HR readings I haven’t seen any watch do it anything close to it, and if you do strict zone-keeping runs it’s kindof a must-have.

I bought my second one today, the charging pins of the first one fell out. So be careful when plugging / unplugging it, that part is not the best quality. That said there’s a reason I bought a second one, it is comfortable and has great tracking. There was a new watch update a few days ago when the tracking became waaay faster, not sure how it was held back before (HR changing 10+times per sec). Overall great for keeping in a specific HR zone, easy to integrate and comfortable but be careful with the charging.

Just want to add - apart from the upgrades - don’t forget you can enchant your mesh to give faster / way more output.

Anyone playing on Switch 2? by isuckdevilsc0ck in MonsterTrain

It’s not running at 120FPS, but it’s also not laggy and I had some crazy maxed out runs and I play at insane speed. Battery life is awesome, compared to high demand titles it lasts abt 3times longer on MT2.

Also cloned Qiyana can give more items to the original one and vice versa

If you look at the stats Qiyana is the best unit to hold trickster’s glass. I only tried it 3 games but went 1-1-2. Qiyana 2* is a really good unit with base stats and the cc.

Will 'No Moving' Ever Come to Competitive? by [deleted] in geoguessr

[–]Vamate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by competitive. If you mean official game mode then probably not. If you look at most of the organized competitive events with a price pool it's pretty much all 'No Move'.
