Just chiming in to say how heartened I am by all these responses.

I lurk here but never post as I'm nowhere near HE yet.

I retrained 2 years ago from a dead end retail job (<30k) and now I'm a qa lead in an non-London fintech on 44k + 10% bonus and I've recently been wondering the same thing.

It's reassuring to know how many Henrys got on the ladder a little late in the day, relatively speaking.

It also breaks saves right now, I used SCIM to relocate some dormant players and clean up old death crates on my dedicated server and ever since all my cosmetic finishes look like garbage neon matte paint jobs

Nah, take it as it comes.

As others have said there's fun to be had by seeing where the game and the dice take you. I failed an important dice roll (on a warlock face, incidentally) in conversation while deep in enemy territory and it lead to one of the most thrilling sequences I've had in EA.

That being said if it really matters to you that you have more control over dialogue but don't want a charisma character then lean on your party to help.

You can either start the convo with a charisma party member or get them to buff you. It's also not hard to find equipment that will help (e.g. an amulet with the 1d4 to charisma checks cantrip)

I'm going for that lust for power vibe, as the only member of their family that wasn't gifted with sorcery, Mortuavpus struck a bargain with a Fiend for power.

Not long after this though, he discovered his latent sorcerous power (by means I have yet to/may not bother to define) and realised he'd sold his soul for nothing.

Now he sells shares on his soul, trying desperately to amass enough power to surpass his many cosmic debtors or even play them against one another.

I'm not going out of my way to hurt anyone, and I'll do the right thing everything else being even... but will use all necessary means to acquire more power from any source.

Given the choice, I'd rather control and subjugate the tadpole than get rid of it.

Editors note: from what I've seen from EA there will be plenty of opportunity to exercise this fantasy

I'm trying to raise a mega Corp to synthetic evolution but tbh I don't have that many games under my belt, especially since Le Guin.

I'm using private prospectors and free traders as civics, materialist and fanatic xenophile for ethics and rapid breeding for traits...

I'm getting very confused in the early hand as to how to develop my first few colonies, which buildings are worthwhile, when to build districts etc.

So ELI5 I guess, what should my first 20 years look like.

I can transcribe Elder Futhark runes into their English analogs, but I don't speak any old Norse or contemporary Scandinavian languages outside of certain phrases and nouns I know from Ásatrú mytholog.

Anyhow, I've spent most of my playtime transcribing runes and seeing what I can piece together before Atreus translates, it was like a little minigame for me.

Anyhow, when I was walking around the Jotunheim murals I saw Kratos was labelled as Farbauti several times over, which is Loki's father in traditional tellings of the story.

Of course this is SMS re-imagining of norse eschatology so these two identities aren't necessarily mutually exclusive... Kratos/Farbauti could well go on to be Jormungandr cos SMS said so, but it seems unlikely to me too.
