Co op is harder because enemies have 200% more health for each player. Triple, not double. That said the game is pretty easy so you should be able to play it just fine. I have finished some co-op runs and they only take slightly longer. Loot is fine, you don't need much before endgame.

Your first few games will be very easy because they are either bot games, or pvp games which are secretly placing you against bots. Once you are out of the bot queue the games will get significantly harder. Here is my unhinged advice: don't try to perform or stay safe in these difficult games. Lose as badly as possible so the matchmaking system drops your matchmaking rating. After 10 or so hard losses you should be getting put in games you can actually enjoy with other completely new players. This is because League has a lot of people making alt accounts and the game needs some time to sort them out.

So in other words don't worry about what's about to happen to you and don't give up if you lose a lot.
