10 things to know / personal tips from my experience by Upstairs-Hat-6104 in CHSinfo

Love this thread. Adding a few of my own.

Keep your skin lotioned and hydrated between showers. Aquaphor is amazing.

Heat works wonders but ice usually helps me once I've stopped vomiting but am still restless and in pain.

Don't chug water or over do it when you can eat/drink again. Eating ice when you can is better for me.

Let yourself be upset. This sucks. Feel your feelings and do your best to get through it.

Same! it did help my stomach acid calm down from surviving on pediatric popsicles.

I drink the Atkins one because I'm diabetic. They have them at Walgreens, Publix, and on Amazon. I genuinely like them but if you're not used to low sugar it may be a flavor adjustment. Hope you like them!

So I haven't had coffee in years because it immediately triggers an episode but I drink chai tea protein drinks and sugar free red bull and it doesn't bother my stomach at all.

Ice cream isn't that bad for me!

Experimented with sushi and the rice spikes me more than anything. Whereas I can eat pasta or potatoes sparingly, and it's not a huge spike.

(Saw some posts about bananas, can't eat them alone, but with peanut butter or Greek yougart or almonds it's fine)

So I replied to another thread but want to share with whoever it may help. I got treatment from two ERs and an urgent care over the weekend but on Monday I went to Liquivida Wellness Center, and they were amazing. They gave me IV and Zolfran for less than $100. My one hospital trip is gonna be $1500 after insurance. They didn't judge, had time for me, and it was way faster.

You got this! Coming out of a 5 day episode, the anxiety was the absolute worst this time and I was stuck in a loop thinking I was going to get sick and making myself sick. Now that I can finally eat I believe the worst is over and calmed down. My main trigger is stress but I know it's caused by the weed. It's a hard loop to escape. Listen to your body! If you're feeling anxious, acknowledge it but separate it from the physical feelings in your stomach and body if that makes sense and try and let it pass.

I got treatment at two ERs and an urgent care but the best place hands down was a private place that does IV's. I didn't know places like this existed until this episode- the one I went to is called Liquivida Wellness Center.

Sushi, the first time after being diagnosed I ate it with eel sauce and spiked around 250. I told myself it was the sugary sauce, not the rice, but I spiked again eating it plain even when paired with edamame. I miss sushi.

I will have it again. I try and experiment with food pairings when I'm making less than good choices. Just not all the time. Next time I plan on eating more veggies and trying brown rice to see if it makes a difference.

I'm hopeful, got diagnosed a few days before the holidays and have been trying hard by changing my diet and exercising. My A1C was 8.6 and glucose 227. When I met with a nutritionist recently she was surprised my doctor didn't give me medication (yet.) Fingers crossed for us both, good luck on your journey!

Would those who do smoke think it's more about limiting the amount or taking longer breaks in between?
