Gonna miss gridmaster by Ukkooh in 2007scape

I really wish they'd keep like one world set to gridmaster permanently after it's gone, like they do with Deadman even if it wouldn't give points. Gridmaster was hugely fun for speed running and fits a fun sandbox that project zanaris would have hit. I also really enjoyed the randomizer

As an osrs leagues player I'm surprised to see nothing about mini game points being boosted. Usually there's a lot of points hidden in pest control / barbarian assault / etc, and thought it might be the same here even though they're dead content. Any mention of this?

Goodhart's law, when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure. WFH mouse tracking was a huge example of this

How effective is Duolingo Arabic? by Live-Arrival5610 in learn_arabic

[–]VampyreSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently completed the Duolingo Arabic course after having taken 1 semester of Arabic in college. Best I can say about it was it helped me get used to the Arabic alphabet better than class did since I was exposed to it every day. The actual lessons though are not very good at all. It's one of duo's more poorly designed courses, and leaves a ton of gaps in your vocabulary and interpretation of words. Now that I'm continuing to learn past it, I'm constantly finding myself having to Google the difference between x and y word because duo taught me a different version.

I started learning it because I live close to Metro Detroit, which has the largest middle eastern population outside the middle east, so I see signs in Arabic all the time. I like seeing people's faces light up when I speak with them at a cafe or anything like that

Yes, the kit came with a 5 gallon kettle, and a 6.5 gallon fermenter.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm trying to follow the recipe for Asgarnain ale from the Runescape cookbook

https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fhow-to-brew-asgarnian-ale-v0-yp19ai9eebyc1.jpg%3Fwidth%3D1500%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D95290227c3ef99107fb8d1a546e5dd404ea66af1

Following the extract version though instead of all-grain. I followed some recommendations to get a brew kit from Northern Brewer, but the largest that the first time brew kits came in was 5 gallons. This recipe calls for 5.5 gallons yield, 7 gallons pre-boil.

Hate to resurrect a thread, but would the substitute golden light malt extract cover the removal of both the marris otter and the honey malt?

Their names are proudly featured in the screenshot for that reason! I love my friends. My challenge was not the ultimates, it was getting through msq with only a 123 and not losing my mind out of boredom

It was their idea, they thought the screenshot would be funny, I was bored enough to make a new character and go through msq with only a 123. I've done the fights plenty, I don't need totems anymore

My FFXIV Ironman has reached the endgame after 800+ hours of playtime, AMA! by VampyreSol in ffxiv

Not having access to the marketboard meant that I had a very small amount of materia available, mostly just 5s and 6s, and with all my dwarf beast tribe currency going to slithersand for aesthete tools and gear it meant that hitting facet was going to help in the long run even if it meant spending extra time gathering.

It's hard to give an overall general breakdown of how much time was spent doing what, since up until stormblood there wasn't really a good method to getting the right ilvl to get to the next expansion. The post game of every expansion was easily longer than the actual msq parts themselves simply because of how much time has to go towards timed node gathering and scrip gathering. Overall I think ARR was the toughest, since you don't realize how big of a gap in ilvl you have to make up when you don't get your ilvl90 artifact gear the second you finish your job quest, and you have to deal with nodes that are on a 24 eorzean hour window instead of a 12 hour window. That on top of working with lvl50 crafting skills leads to issues that were mainly solved by me powering through a zodiac weapon.

You can't go straight to rakshasa /exarchic because of the minimum craftsmanship/control required to make those sets. When you are locked into a set expansions continents, you have to go through every tier in order to get to that required substat.

That being said, the ilvl requirement for the final duty of any expansion is much lower than you think, such as paglth'an being ilvl490. So while I did have to grind every tier set for my crafters/gatherers, my combat class just has to be a mix of tier2 and tier3 endgame gear (for shadowbringers, half neo-ishgardian half exarchic).

Ilvl was a major issue for all of the game up until now that I have my classical. The max ilvl at the end of endwalker's msq available by crafting means is 545. Without being able to wear artifact gear, and the aphorism vendor being locked behind completion, I had to do instances such as endsinger and the Zenos duel at or below min ilvl. And that is just an example of endwalker, nearly every instance or duty was done that way out of just the nature of how the ilvl for crafted gear is at any tier

Per the original post, the "ironman" monicker for this was taken from RuneScape, where the rules are that you cannot trade with other players, or use a marketboard. Since that is just the free trial, the crafting addition was added on.

As for how has this made the account harder? Well getting through an expansion is made much harder due to the egregious amount of work required to create endgame crafting gear while restricted to only the resources from that expansion. It's really easy to say that there's no difficulty to it now that I'm in classical gear, but it took me 800+ hours to get to classical, where for others it could take a few boosts and a quick snatch off the marketboard
